So, tomorrow I go to meet the director of the program for International and Comparitive Politics.
Right now, quite frankly, I'm too tired to be scared. But I will be tomorrow. Or, if nothing else, at 9am she could say "And, as a part of this program we require your immortal soul..." And I'll be like "Oh, that's fine...." Not a morning person doesnt begin to cover it.
Of course I'm like all over the map about this. Will that barely below the bar GPA keep me OUT as in NEVER EVER EVER KID KEEP DREAMING! Or will it be, Hmmm....We need to do an interview; see if you qualify for the intensities of this program ?
In the meantime, I've done the HALT thing (ate all 3 meals today--*bows gracefully*); went to an al anon meeting f2f; went to aerobics; and now, I believe I will surrender the reality that I am not the energizer bunny (I'd like to be in denial about this one...but my body precedes me.)
Lots of programs have GPA requirements as a screening tool but if you got past that, and have an interview, that means they are considering MORE than just the GPA.
You are very intelligent and highly verbal so you should do fine!
You would not believe the things I accomplished in college with just my mouth, LOL. I managed to talk my way into quite a few classes that I did not have the prerequisites for and always set my own schedule even though I was not supposed to, LOL.
Just believe in yourself and sell yourself with all of the passion of a used car salesman, LOL. Which means give it your all, and talk up every good point about yourself that you can.
Don't forget the subtle art of turning your "faults" into good points. For instance, I am never "slow" about getting things done, but "detail oriented and methodical", LOL. I don't procrastinate, I "I KNOW how to set the proper priorities and attend to those first".
Wear high heels, tall people get more opportunities, sorry but that is a fact psychologists have discovered through careful research. Wear subtle make-up, another edge. DON'T wear perfume though...and wipe deodarant on your palms and then wipe it off so your hands don't sweat when you shake hands. Give the firmest handshake you can and do it FIRST. That has gotten me quite a few jobs even when other candidates had more education than I did.
I believe in your Tiger, you are very gifted intellectually and would be an asset to ANY program.
Much Love,
Isabela
PS I suggest you read a few books on body language and non verbal communication in business, this information will be invalueable to you, you will take command and be in control of nearly every interview and they won't know what hit them, LOL.
I have gotten every job I ever interviewed for with this knowledge .
