I Hope You Dance

Hi friends,


    Wow! Higher power spoke to me loud and clear.  I read the following in my church bulletin over the weekend.  I asked my pastor where he got it.  He said someone e-mailed it to him.  Then yesterday I received an e-mail from another alanoner w/the same excerpt.  I don't know who the author is, but I know it was meant to be shared.  I hope you dance through the new year w/your higher power

Dancing With God

When I meditated on the word  Guidance,



I kept seeing "dance" at the end of the word.

I remember reading that doing God's will is a lot like dancing.

When two people try to lead, nothing feels right.

The movement doesn't flow with the music,

And everything is quite uncomfortable and jerky.

When one person realizes that, and lets the other lead,

Both bodies begin to flow with the music.

One gives gentle cues, perhaps with a nudge to the back

Or by pressing Lightly in one direction or another.

It's as if two become one body, moving beautifully.

The dance takes surrender, willingness,

And attentiveness from one person

And gentle guidance and skill from the other.

My eyes drew back to the word Guidance.

When I saw "G: I thought of God, followed by "u" and "I".

"God, "u" and "I" dance."

God, you, and I dance.

As I lowered my head, I became willing to trust

That I would get  guidance about my life.

Once again, I became willing to let God lead.

My prayer for you today is that God's blessings

And mercies be upon you on this day and everyday.

May you abide in God as God

Abides in you.

Dance together with God, trusting God to lead

And to guide you through each season of your life.

This prayer is powerful and there is nothing attached.

If God has done anything for

You in your life,

Please share this message with someone else,

For prayer is one of the best gifts we can receive.

There is no cost but a lot of rewards;

So let's continue to pray for one another.

And I Hope You Dance

I need to read this today.... I plan to dance with God as He dancing with me though life....

Okay... yours was pretty profound... but when I first read the title to your post... I thought you were referring to my very favorite song in the whole world.... I Hope You Dance, by Lee Ann Womack.  It is a beautiful message as well....

Beautiful post, Danz......and I thought until I read it that you were refering to that song Canadian Guy mentioned, too. 


Guys, the weirdest thing, I was driving home tonight, about 2 hours ago, and THAT song came on the radio, and I had not heard it in a long time, and I started thinking about the meaning of the words really hard, really getting into it....then I came home, and read this post.....weird....you think HP is trying to send me a message?????  I do......I think HP is sending love straight to me thru this community right here.  HP must have gotten tired seeing me struggle and be in so much pain, so I was directed to this site Jan. 1, 2006.  And what a difference a year makes!  I never thought I would ever smile again, back then.  Boy, was I wrong.  My AH is still drinking, but I want to live now, and I think HP wants me to be happy while I am living.  What do you think?
