The material presented
here is not Al-Anon Conference Approved Literature. It is a method
to exchange
information, ideas, feelings, problems and solutions on a personal
level.
Just wanted to share and perhaps you can incorporate this into your Alanon meetings. Each year at this time we have one alanon meeting where each one of the members bring a candle and some goodies. We each light our candles and dim the lights and have our meeting in difused lighting. It is a nice touch......gardengal
Wonderful idea ! Thanks for passing that suggestion along. I'm always looking for something to make a meeting a little more memorable for the participants.

Our group does that too, in December. The only problem is that we have to make sure we have a couple of bigger candles, so people can see to do the readings!
Personally, I don't really like it too much, as I am quite hard of hearing, and when I can't see faces, I can't quite tell what is being said. It's still a nice safe feeling being there though, so I don't really mind that much. Also, I can't make many December meetings - it seems that Thursday night is the night the school schedules all concerts, awards nights, etc . Hmm, maybe if we got a few of the school administrators into alanon, they'd leave Thursdays alone.....
Ours is a lunch time meeting, tomorrow we do food -- it's so much fun, very casual for our Christmas/holiday meeting.
What I really love though is an Alanon Christmas/New Year party. We had one Sat. Every year I am blown away by how much fun we have ( you'd think we'd been drinking LOL) It is wonderful to get with others and talk the same "language" yet leave our problems at the door and just enjoy ourselves. It is like taking a break from that part of your life and just filling up on the love and joy of the moment.
If your home group is doing a holiday party, and you aren't sure if you want to go....please reconsider, it's a great way to recharge your batteries during this stressful season.
