                                                          I Started As A Little Seed


 


I started as a little seed,


All hard and tough and round,


Self-centered in my little world,


Till God plopped me on the old, hard, ground.


 


I whined to God,


“What is this?” I said in dreaded fear.


“My world is perfect as it is!


What am I doing here?”


 


My answer was a smile,


A look I would come to know.


God had plans for me,


And it was time for me to grow.


 


I looked at God and said, “Ok,


But do I have to grow here?


This is not the spot for me!”


I made that very clear!


 


This earth is cold and hard!”


I whined profusely to God.


This is not the spot for me!”


I said with a pouting nod.


 


My answer was a smile,


And God did something I won’t forget,


He turned my whining into mulch


And plopped in on my head!


 


I cried, I ached I felt the pain,


That comes when change is near,


But God never left my side,


I always felt his presence there.


 


Then one day I looked around,


And with the help of God’s grace,


Transformed had I become,


No more a seed, but a flower in its place!


 


And God saw fit to give,


A gift I did not foresee,


A place in the sunshine,


And friends to share it with me!


 


I started as a little seed,


And now I am a flower,


I have grown to cherish love and joy,


With the help of a Higher Power.

 Thank you for the beautiful poem.  I really enjoyed it and it reminded me of this old saying from somewhere back in my head..probably from a coach somewhere back in the day..lol
