Codependcy article

My local newspaper has an article in it's LIFE section about codependency, along with a checklist and some recommended authors and books. I don't know if they'll ask for email and such like that--if so, you may just get to know what's going on in Dayton, OH!

www.daytondailynews.com

Note: I know certain people have stated on this message board that they feel strongly that co dependency is a non existent nothing; that Melody Beatie is a drug addict out to make a buck; that sponsorship, the 12 steps, and other tools of al anon are just cruches. To these people I would like to tell you something: Just because these tools have not worked for you does not mean that these tools will not work for others. Additionally, I have consistently seen success from people who are keeping an open mind, giving it 100% of their effort, and going full tilt--so please, whatever you distractions, detractions, issues or idiosyncrasies, take them up with a sponsor or a councelor.

 Enjoy in good health! ~Tiger

Tiger...took a look at the article but kinda had to sign up. that's ok because it was a good article.

My sister and I were talking this morning about codependency. Her therapist told her to join some group to help her learn more about it. She (and also myself) have many of the symptoms of being codependent. Her therapist suggested ACOA. However, it is very hard to find a meeting in our area. She ask her therapist about Alanon and she was told that would not be for her. Now...although she is not living with aism today she did have the same father I had. Also, she is the youngest sibling and I think got the worst of his disease. I do think Alanon could help her because she really needs to learn to set boundaries with her 13 year old son and others in her life. Her issues come from "living with aism" and I think she could be helped alot.

I also think my little sister has many symptoms of aism herself and maybe one day will seek help for that.

YFIR...Gail
