Constant State of Panic Attack?

Does anyone else feel like they are in a constant state of panic?  Not that I have anything to fear but just feel the stomach churning heart rate increasing panic feeling for no particular reason?

Sure from time to time.  It goes away when I am asleep... LOL

Seriously, I do that alot and it happens mostly when I am either trying to "figure my A out" or when I am second guessing my HP.

If I am busy, and doing what I need to do for me, that anxiety goes away.  Isn't that odd?

So, that's a big goal for me.  Getting a list together of what I need to do for me.  And make sure I am marching through that list with any spare time.  Even to make spare time for it.

Big goal: Play golf with my boys:  So I need to -  1) get some clubs 2) get some practice at the driving range so I don't embarass myself when the 11 yr old outdrives me.

Big goal: Get proficient in .net and .net patterns: So I need to - 1) read the 2 books I have bought 2) complete the online courses available 3) commit to a project on this platform.

Every minute I devote to stuff like this, I can't help but let go of those queazy feelings.

I am not good at this, I dwell on the most obscure things.  But I owe it to myself to get better at it.

Just my random thoughts on it... hope it helps.

Take care of you!

YES!

I actually feel that way everytime my daughter is in her father's care!  My stomach is churning and I have trouble breathing and I can not relax or concentrate.  I worry and fall back into my sick pre-alanon state.  It is hard for me to detach when my child's well being is at risk with an active A.  So I try to give it to HP.  No matter what I worry about or how hard it will not change a thing.

Yours in recovery,

Julia

Yes, yes, yes!  I've recently had several wonderful "progress" days , yet last night as I lay in bed I thought "why do I have chest pains?" -- stress, anxiety, fear all of those plague me and sometimes I don't even realize it until they are way out of control.

If you can find a place ( hide out in your bathroom if you have to) when you notice it and take  10-15 min. to pray, meditate or just do some deep breathing.  I find that if I don't stop and try to release those feeling they only build.

I know how you feel I had severe panic disorder, where I was blacking out and thought I was having a heart attack I went to the hospital and doctor I have had several EKG’s.  This all started after we bought our house and my A& D boyfriend told me he had a drug problem with H. I freaked and it’s taken my 7 years to try to control my panic I was on xanax for five years and finally went off of it. The only way to control the panic is to talk your self out of it and tell your self you are going to be O.K. breathing exercises help and the only thing I found to help the most is cardio at the gym 30minutes on the elliptical trainer or a jog is the only way for me. I’m suffering from it now due to last night’s ordeal tonight is gym night. Good luck Angie.

I used to have panic attacks fairly frequently, especially in crowds, meetings, anyplace where I felt closed in.  It is the feeling that you are going to die right then and there.  I finally got so sick of it that every time I felt that way I just said to myself - GO AHEAD AND DIE IF YOU ARE GOING TO.  Well, I never did and this seems to have helped.  I still get that feeling to a lesser degree sometimes but it passes.  If you mean do I get panic stricken by the things my AW does, yes, occassionally.  But after reminding myself that I really have no control, this type of panic subsides also.  I hope you are able to overcome your panic.  Best wishes.

Yes! I just came home from seeing my therapist. Growing up in a house full of violence and alcoholism gives you anxiety, anxiety you don't recognize because you became so used to it. So, when everything is going along smoothly, the anticpatory anxiety kicks in because I am so used to something terrible happening. So, my therapist gave me some homework this evening. No computer before bedtime. Meditation and visualization before bedtime instead. She wants me to go on anti-anxiety meds. She also suggested treating myself nicely with bubble baths, manicures, etc. If you can get your mind to stop turning and focus on one paticular relaxing thing then it will help. It takes practice, practice, practice.

I'll say a prayer for you. Don't watch the news either!!!!
