Crazy Stuff

My daughter and I were coming out of the car to walk into a bookstore when we ran into an old friend's 17 year old daughter. She seemed very sad and confused. She was trying very hard to keep a smile on her face. I asked her if she was alright because she did not seem to be okay. That's when she told me that she recently ended her relationship with her boyfriend. She told me he kept telling her she was crazy. She kept calling her friends and asking them if she was making a big deal about whatever was going on at the time. Her friends kept telling her there was nothing wrong with her, and that it was the boyfriend. She finally found out that he was on drugs. My jaw hit the ground. It made me want to go knock this boy's lights out. It is so heartless and cruel to do this to another human being.

This evening, I went to a Toastmasters meeting. Tonight was contest night. The first speaker started telling a story about a man he met. This man was telling him a story about his mother's two ex husbands. They were both alcoholics and abusive. Well, I was flabbergasted. Where is all this coming from?

I feel like I am living in the Twilight Zone.

I guess it's kind of like when you get a new car. All of a sudden you see the same one you have every where you go :)
