What is a triathlete? Someone who competes in a race with 3 events. My events yesterday were a half mile swim, 15 mile bike and 3.1 mile run.
This course of events took me 2 hours and 14 minutes and I successfully finished without walking.
Why do I post this here?
When I found this site I was at the most desperate of my life. I was 85 pounds overweight. I took alot of sleeping pills every night so I would not wake up when my drunk husband tried to rouse me. I was sick and tired of the way I was living and ready to do anything to take away the pain.
My life was out of control and I needed change.
By working the alanon program I have made real progress in my life.
I am now emotionally and physically much healthier and stronger.
Thanks my family for helping me along the road of recovery
Megan

Thanks SO much for sharing that Megan! What inspiration! Really...to go from being 85 pounds overweight to completing a triatholon without taking the easy route and walking is really a wondrous accomplishment.
This is just what I needed, really, I was sitting here debating wether I should be easy on myself and not work out today...sigh...well, after this boost of inspiration I am going to work out as soon as I post this.
Thank you for yet another glimps of life "on the other side" when we no longer let our A's hold us down.
Thanks for your inspiring example Megan. I wish I would have read this post when I wrote my "Holiday" post, I would like to add a "Megan" day when we challenge ourself to a physical fitness activity that we have never done before...just to show ourselves what we can do when we put our minds to it. I think I will have a "Megan" day once a month and try something new.
I am so very proud of you. I know you have been working very hard to accomplish this goal. Your hard work has paid off in a big way. Congrats to you on all of your successes.
xoxo

Way to go Megan! I am impressed. When I read your topic, I thought the post was going to be more about how you manage to multi-task. I had no idea you were really a tri-athelete! That is super fantastic.
When I first came here, I also was very medicated. Took sleeping pills, used food to comfort myself, was on anti-depressants.
A change in attitude can change your life. You have proven that!
Well, now I guess I don't have an excuse to go to my workout! I'm at the library on my way home from work with 1/2 hour to kill before workout place opens up. The little devil on my shoulder tries to get me to skip it and go for an ice cream instead, but you inspired me. I'm gonna go work it! Am very proud of you. 85 lbs.! Wow.
I too am proud of you!!! You set goals and you work each day at attaining them. You are such a beautiful person. You are a living example of hard work paying off.
Love ya, Maria

Yipee Meagan! I was wondering where you were. And I had a feeling that the warrior athlete would come out in you. Too cool. Keep it up. Are you in recovery or what?
I am in recovery, my muscles today are much better than yesterday - the day after the race. I spent an hour on a jet this morning and could walk just fine after that so I am happy.
Without the alanon program I would still be physically and emotionally sick. I am forever grateful for you my family of choice for your encouragement and shining the light of knowledge.
