ODAT


Begining each day with one day at a time.
Today my computor net was down so I was sitting here with foot in cast tring ,to stay put for I can not walk on it.Patiences is the key word for me.I thought how the ODAT book One day at a time is looking so old.But it does show I use it often.Turning to pages I spend valuable time moments of peace and medatitation over the days thought.I have used my odat book for topics of feelings I had gone thru.By looking in the index to a certain feeling or interest I had that day.As well as my daily reading.Thru the years the odat book has bin my compainion.I remember when the courage to change book came out.I was so excited,for I new it would be so much like our ODAT.
 I think of my odat as a atempt to have my serenity.As I deal with people places and things.Every morning I make a decision,for i am faced with Choices frustration or Freedom.As i wait for the morning coffee to brew I can be inpatient....fussing about this and that.Or I can enjoy looking out the window in my kitchen and enjoy the aroma of my brewing pot..Fresh coffee.Fresh like this new Day.As I have my coffee I can be greatful for the people in my life and the things I have..Starting my day with Gretitude is a good start for me.I read my odat and it helps me with thoughts thru out the day while I enjoy my fresh cuppa.I remind myself I am unable to change people places and things only me.Alanon has taught me to keep my hands and mouth out of others stuff there bussiness.If I find I am getting caught up in the personalities around me.I remember my Odat.In the Odat there is a short verse at the bottom of the page I like to reflect thru out the day what it says to me.Like this one good for me...."slow motions gets you there faster".With that quote I stop and THINK a slogan.It also tells me to slow down even more so with this foot.Meditation is also my time for selve invatorie of my day.Odat helps me stay clear of self pitty and guilt.Look at the pages in Odat in evening helps me reflect my day as well as knowing I did the best I could for the day and if I need to make amends I can do it.Amends is to better me freedom of guilt.I am human and say and do things I may need to remind my self of the amends list.I do not like to make amends to often for i was once one to always say I was sorry and did not need to.so today I try to stay sharp on what I did or did not do.Meditation revitalizes my spirtuality and my conscious contact with the God of my understanding.
Amazing what a pocket size book can do for a few dollars.it has help me so much in many ways in my life.It is shared by others experence stregth and hope.My Odat has given me serenity,gratitude acceptance and humility into my deep self.One Day At a time our odat book.Has opened my eyes.Yes there other books that are just as good.Odat was my first and favorite book.For when I got my Odat I could not afford others and it kept me sharp in the program I grew One Day AT A Time.Love in recovery Sharon/angel123
