Good evening to all.  I have been in contact recently with two members of MIP.  It has been shared that MIP will be disappearing sometime in the near future due to financial issues.  I don't know whether this will be tomorrow or the end of the year.  As you can see, most of the people doing the daily shares have left.  Now it's just me and one other member.  It's not really a healthy situation with only two people posting.  Alanon is most helpful with input from many.  This is how we grow and learn from one another. In the past many members shared their ESH--no one is doing that now. Although only two people are doing the daily, many people are reading them.  I am completely baffled that no one cares to share on the board anymore.  Is it time to close down completely?  I'm hoping those of you still reading the shares can offer some feedback.  ODAT, Lyne

I hope this board doesnt go anywhere and maybe it just needs more foot traffic? Today is my first day here... Im considering attending my first f2f meeting and I literally googled whether I should tell my spouse and it brought me here... the post it brought me to was from 2011 and just out of curiosity I decided to check if this was still and active board... how excited I was to see that it is... and then I saw this post. I have to believe there are many more out there just like me... looking for answers, for guidance, navigating something not-so-new in a completely new way. I joined in my first telephone meeting today. It was reassuring to hear the shares, but at the end of the meeting they asked if anyone needed phone numbers? I wasnt sure what they meant by that but presume it was another way to connect. There were 28 people on that call, myself included and not one of us spoke up - all choosing to remain anonymous. Again, myself included. I hope this board stays active... I could definitely see myself utilizing this space. What does it mean that MIP will disappear... are there other forums to participate in? Thanks for any information!!

Hi Body, Welcome!

So glad to hear that you found ALanon. Several years ago, when I had given up hope, was full of desperation and thought I was losing my mind, I heard about Alanon and thought I would give it a try as I felt I had tried everything else.

I do recommend a f2f meeting, try a few if you can. I benefitted from reading the daily books and Paths to Recovery: Alanon Steps, Traditions, and Concepts along with meetings.

The site here is nearing end of life as it is not financially supported and lacks the resources required to keep it maintained, so it does look like it is near the end. But fear not, Alanon is everywhere, ALanon.org is a resource if you have not already found it.

I wish you the best in your journey and hope you find as much value in it as I have, it has changed my life immeasurably for the better.

Keep coming back to Alanon, wherever you find it
