Hi, it is WendyP, awhile ago I was wanting to send a friend of mine a reading that helped me get through an issue that was causing me great pain, and I thought that it might help them also. I could not remember where I had seen it, and because I am a determined person, and wanted to find it for myself as well, I decided to go searching for it. I didn't know if it was in the Courage To Change, or, Hope For Today. I got both books out and started my search.
I went through both books until I found the one that I was looking for. But as I was going through them, reading the sharings, I thought to myself of how fortunate that I am, to be able to have such a huge way of finding help,to have Faith and Serenity, within those 2 books. Just looking at the Names of them, Courage To Change and Hope For Today, I find peace for myself just looking at that, before I even open them both up. To be able to use the sharings of other people, to show me the way, to recovery, Serenity and Peace of Mind. To also, if I feel so alone, I only have to see those 2 books, and then read, then I know that I am never alone.
I do have and read other books, not related to Al-Anon, as I am the type of person, I will use anything that works for me to help me keep getting better. But, I also know that I have to not only read them, but put them into practice. I heard an AA friend of mine, saying, that you have to take the Steps off the wall, and put them in your life. To me, that is the same as reading the readings, I have to use them.
For what all the Literature of Al-Anon that I have, and use, I am so grateful, to be able to say Thank You for the ones who went before me and shared them, as it helps me to continue to walk my path of Serenity and Healthiness, a Day At A Time.
{{{Wendy}}}. Thanks for such an upbeat wonderful share. We all find what works in program that helps us, and fortunately there is a vast array of choices. I find this message board is one of the opportunities that helps me, and I try to read and reply to at least one share daily. I have an alanon friend with whom I text daily, and she texts back. We start our day with a touch of program. And although my home group has been on zoom for two years, there is a core group of us that have been together for 8 yrs or so. They are like a family to me, similar to the message board. Day or night these helpers are available (including this board). I feel lucky to have found all of it, and I'm grateful for program every day.
Wendy, I have experienced that feeling of peace come over me just from reading the titles as well!! Really extraordinary!

Thank you Wendy for your share! I am always almost 'giddy' when I pick up either and just open to a random page and it 'meets my needs for the moment'! When my mind is racing, I randomly do this and what a gift these dailies are for me and my recovery. Love & Light my friend and awesome reminder!!
