Recently, I read a sharing on this program the person mentioned about a Western, and it brought back a lovely memory for me, so I would like to share it with all of you.
I was at a AA, Alanon weekend, and was in line to have lunch, and I started talking to a young man who was in front of me. We started talking about how we worked our programs, I said to him of how cranky I use to get at myself, when I was trying to change something that I was working on, and I knew I was doing it backwards. It felt like as if it was like a horse, and it would bolt, and I would try to drag it back and then shut the gate. What I was trying to do was to shut the gate so the horse wouldn't bolt. Get it right the first time.
He listened to me, and then said to me,"You know what I would do." "No, what" I said.
He said, " I would just get another horse," I just burst out laughing and said," I never thought of that."
It was good to have a laugh, and to relive a lovely memory.
Wendy, your share is priceless! Somewhere along the line during my college education, I was taught that if what we are doing is not working, try something else. Thats similar to the horse story. Reminds me also of the definition of insanity: doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. Lots to learn in life and program. :)
Well then - I suppose there are times to get a new horse then, eh? I love this share and I am also reminded how sometimes I can take myself too seriously as well as complicate things more than needed. (((Hugs))) Thanks for the share WendyP!
