Ok, so I am sitting here right now taking a quick break from some homework. I am reading a chapter on "converting change into opportunity." While I am a tad restless since the school year is almost at a close, this really had me glued to it. I thought of all the dragons I have battled against in my life, many of whom were simply a caterpillar in disguise; I just didnt have the ablility to identify them.
As we walk down this road of life, we all face many obsticals. Being able to identify a situation as "non-lethal" is imperrative. I know that it has helped me to look at the situation from a more broad perspective, and make a better decision. And rather than just take the easiest road I am now becoming strong enough to really turn those dragons in my life into opportunities to better myself. I try to look at the "bad days" as a learning experience so that I can continue to grow mentally and spiritually. Well, back to the books
Funny how we make these Alanon connections in so many different ways in our lives when we are ready. We see it so clearly at times and it is sooooo wonderful. Sometimes I feel like I am carrying a secret I wish I could share with others. Those who ask me I happily share with - they are the ones who really want to hear it anyways.
Heavens! Personal insightful thinking connected to your program as you are studying for exams! And, I'm told, while you are weaning yourself off cigs. I don't think I know anyone else who's been able to do that. Well, done!
You are so right there. It is amazing how the program can transform us from someone just going down the road reacting to the stuff around us without a thought. I often tell people who are telling me something bad that is happening to them, that this is a great opportunity to grow and learn something that you can use for the rest of your life to make it better. ....now when I say that to someone outside of the program..well they look at me like I am a blue eyed Dragon with a dunce cap on my head!!!!
Keep doing what you are doing my friend. Great job!
