Al-Anon is not allied with any sect, denomination, political entity, organization,or institution; does not engage in any controversy, neither endorses nor opposes any cause. There are no dues for membership. Al-Anon is self supporting through its own voluntary contributions.
The Al-Anon Family Groups are a fellowship of relatives and friends of alcoholics who share their experience, strength, and hope, in order to solve their common problems.

Another passage I have been thinking about lately is in the Suggested Al-Anon Welcome, "... as we learn to place our problem in its true perspective, it loses its power to dominate our thoughts and our lives." There is no guarantee our problem will disappear, but it will lose its dominance.
I think the expectations of al anon are to leave your expectations st the door. When I first went to al.anon which was decades ago I was incredibly judgmental. Needless to say I did not.stick around. Then as I grew up in a dysfunctional family my boundaries were way off. Learning where I began and others ended was an education
I am glad you are willing to look.at al.anon. Going to al anon was life changing for me Some of the skills I learned in al.anon have been incredibly helpful to me.
