The new job.

I started the new job yesterday. I would like to say thanks to all of you here who gave me encouragement. Now, looking back, I can't believe how smoothly everything has played out. Also, looking back at my Al-Anon experience I do feel like something has changed in me. Nothing big. But, something in my outlook has shifted. I know there are other difficulties ahead, but I feel like I now know that I have something to help me face it.

((Great news Westman )))) I too have experienced that slight switch in perspective that indicated a change in my attitude and outlook. I agree it then became clear that I was not alone  and  that there was something there to help me and still is . Thanks for sharing the good news

Wonderful to hear, Westman!!

In regards to your ESH, I found that one of my "defects" from living with this disease is always looking at change in my life as catastrophic. I always went to the worst case scenario. Funny thing is, when it came to my side of the street, it rarely was as bad as I had predicted! How insane is that?? All that worry, all that anxiety... usually over something that ends up being a positive in my life. Who IS this person I have become?

I am exploring these issues about me as I do Step 4. I am coming to learn that my "go-to" is not a healthy way of living. Something in me has shifted as well. My favorite motto for myself as of this moment is: "Let's see how this plays out." If I get all negative, or future-tripping about all the "bads" that could possibly happen, I just stop myself and say, "Wait, let's see how this plays out." "Breathe."
I could never do that before!

Here's to your future success in your new job!

Namaste

Awesome and congrats :)

It always makes me laugh at myself when I realize I create me own storm of worry and wonder why after the fact.

Congratulations and thanks for sharing the great news! I can relate to being surprised when not everything is a messy struggle; thank you for the reminder and inspiration to stay in the moment.
