New. looking for experience, strength, and hope.

I am new to this, and any message board. I have attended Al-Anon meetings in the past, and wish I could go now, but I unfortunately am not free at the time there are any meetings in my area. I have decided to try something new. I am a Adult Child of an Alcoholic who is now in recovery. I did not find Al-Anon until my father was sober for a couple of years. I've gone to meetings for about three years on and off. I have come hear to try to find the serenity that I had when I was going to meetings. My life currently has become unmanagable again, and I see myself reverting back to old ways of dealing. Let me explain what is going on.

I have just retuned home from the hospital where I was visiting my fiance. He has been there since Monday due to a severe sinus infection, and high blood pressure. I have been out of work and school because of this. Today I decided that I needed to talk to someone. Not just about this but the many other stressors that have come into my life lately. So I went to the school's counselor who asked me if I had anyone to support me through this. I sobbed in her office as I explained that I had noone. I have realized that I have isolated myself from others. I had been working so hard to not have feelings that I pushed everyone away, and still am. I did recently try to go to my home group which I haden't been to in about a year. It was gone. I tried to contact members from it and got no response.

I know that this is pretty vauge, but I am very confused, and living in chaos at this time. I am looking for experience, strength, and hope. Anyone know where I can find it?

Hi aimer, There are meetings in our chat room.

This spot is great for getting and giving support. It it is a great place to come to find people who understand. I find it a home and safe.Glad you found  us.

It would not hurt to find a new face to face group if you want to. Allow your hp to show you your path.

I am sure you are feeling out of sorts with your fiance in the hospital. It is hard to be separated from them when we need them.

I am not a coa. so I am not much help. I do know doing anti stressors that make you feel good are imperative. Life gets so serious and we need to do nice things for ourselves.

Hello, and welcome!
We are so glad you are here. And you have done such a great thing for yourself, to reach out. I can relate to your sense of isolation.
I hope you can soon find a face to face meeting, get a sponsor, and start working the steps. You will find that the Steps really work to change you, with the help of your Higher Power.
And we are so glad you are here. It helps us with our Program, too.
Welcome. and blessings.

Hi Welcome to the MIP family:

Here are some things that have helped me since in the program.

  • Go face to face meeting

  • online meeting.

  • post on the board here on the site. I have gotten a lot of good feed back.

·        Set up a support system. People that I can call that have helped me through good an bad times. These people do not judge me, which is very important.
