My teen angels

I was feeling really low all day. All you wonderful people made me feel so much better about forgiving myself, not for saying what I mean, but saying it meanly. Thank You.

For anyone that has followed my posts, you know my house is a revolving door of kids. My bigger kids, (my own three, and our Joey, the young man who is living with us while he finishes High School and then goes into the service). and all of their friends. On any given night their are ten or more teenagers roaming around my house. They are good kids, they are good students, stay out of trouble and are not into drugs or alcohol. Oh we have our share of hormonal arguments and petty disagreements, they are after all teenagers. I never know when one of them will plop down next to me and start pouring out their heart to me. They are always looking for rides, advice or to steal a few cookies.

Tonight when I came home from work it was no different, there was a whole bunch of them. many of them where here yesterday, to hear me yeling like a shrew. Instead of looking at me funny or judging me, they all kept hugging me, saying I love you Mom, and a few of the boys even went so far as to tell me to get a life, that he has no right to treat me the way he does.

My daughter told me that all the kids said they felt so bad, and asked why is he so mean to her. She told me that all her friends love me and are always telling all my kids how lucky they are to have me. She said she agrees. My Joey, gave me a big hug and said I love you Mom, and said thanks for being my Mom. I told him I'm not his Mom, he has a Mom. (Ok he hasn't seen her in a few years), he told me no, she's my Mother, your my Mom. They had me in tears, and they made me realize that no matter what my husband thinks or says or does, that I am the luckiest woman in the world.

People can complain all they wnat about the kids today. But I think the majority of them have great hearts and are filled with kindness and compassion. Tonight these kids where truly my teen angels.

Great post Jeannie,

Funny how kids see things for what they are...they see right through any facade we try to put up.

Take care.

Way to go Mom!

Thanks so much for saying that because I love young people and I cannot wait for my daughter to get a little older.  Everyone tells me I will hate her teenage years but I know she is already my greatest gift!

Jeannie, you are truly blessed with great kids, as I was. I love the teen age years the best, and your post reminded me of so many times when our house was full of that spirit and energy I loved so much. Our house was the gathering place, I think because I loved them all so very much. What makes it even better is that your kids, like my own, will always love and respect you. To this day, my sons, who are adults with their own families and their own interests, still love Mom. My younger one, who was always so wise, advises me, and the older one, the artist with a great sense of humor, still keeps me laughing. So you have so many wonder years to look forward to even in their adulthood. Count your blessings every day, Mom, because some of us are not so fortunate. Hooray for you! I believe it all starts at home.

Hugs to you and all the wonderful young people who surround you, Diva

Dear Sweet Wonderful Josey,

You're post has tears in my eyes.  These kids are a door to show the rest of us your soul.  Raising someone else's child is not only rare it is remarkable.  To show the love and respect that these kids have for you makes me love you even more.  It also inspires me to be a better mother.

Your sharing thru your troubles has been invaluable to me.  Thank you sooooo much for sharing with us the story of these treasures you have!

Love ya,

Txmom
