I'm trying to find out if anyone knows of a support group similar to AA that deals with the death of a loved one. A dear friend of ours passed away last June and his widow is trying to find a support group where she can go. We are in Brazil, In. and can't seem to find anything here. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks to all of you.
hon, check with the local hospital and /or at your local town church. they should / may have grievance counselors (groups) or be able to locate one for you. hope this helps. ((Keep the Faith))
My husband passed away in October last year and I was directed to an online support system found at http://www.groww.com/.
When I first came to al-anon I was amazed at the way I found people with similar feelings and emotions and problems to mine. I was equally amazed at what I found in the people of the GROWW community. There is an amazing amount of experience, strength, and (yes unbelievably to me) even hope. The site is easy to navigate and they have sub-groups (parents who have lost children, young widows/widowers, children who have lost a parent.)
We learn here in al-anon that recovery is a process rather than an event. GROWW shows us that grief, too, is a process. My prayers for your friend during her grieving process and for you during yours.
