The material presented
here is not Al-Anon Conference Approved Literature. It is a method
to exchange
information, ideas, feelings, problems and solutions on a personal
level.
Al-Anon has designated tomorrow, March 4th as "Leave Hope" Day 2006. Honoring program co-founder Lois W.'s birthday, members are encouraged to "accidentally" leave behind a piece of Al-Anon literature in a public place tomorrow, hopefully to be found by someone in need. Restaurants, gas stations, public bulletin boards, bus stops, restrooms, waiting rooms, libraries, grocery stores-- use your imagination and leave some hope behind!
If you have any old Forum magazines, or conference approved pamphlets, booklets or books that are extra or that you are no longer using, consider this as an option. It is a great way to participate in the worldwide fellowship of Al-Anon, and to reach out anonymously to someone in your community who may be desperately searching for a sign that they are not living all alone with the effects of the disease of alcoholism.
Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these steps, we tried to carry this message to others...
Thank you for posting, Emmie - I can never get March 4th out of my head - it was my mother's birthday, she died 20 years ago, but, I know, my sister will be feeling things today. Somehow, it never affects my 2 brothers - think they long ago forgot about birthdays!!!
It is good to know that it also Lois's birthday - I almost feel like I knew her - sure you know what I mean, when you read the literature, it sounds like she is talking to us.
Something, a very elderly, longstanding, member told me - if you take out a library book, mark the page with a piece of alanon literature - she used the little cards, very small cost - who knows where they will reach?
