Frustrating day at work

One of those days....actually the whole week. It was filled with drama. Everyone was acting like they wanted to kill each other. Everyone was complaining. It was volatile and umcomfortable. All other admin but me was out...bad planning overall. There were a million fires tg at got lit over stupid crap and staff not communicating. One of my staff quit. Several others said they wanted to. This is at a treatmemt center for substance abusing delinquent kids so the environment is challenging enough in that regard already. I was like..."Crap! This is my circus and these monkeys suck!" No way to make everyone happy. I'm sure I had a role in it myself also. Oy.

I hope you have time off this weekend to recuperate and rest. I am sure you did the best you could under the circumstances you were dealing with. Hugs to you.

My guess is that when you're dealing with that population, there are always going to be some weeks like that.  I hope you can de-stress over the weekend and do something that really gets your head in a different space.  Or, a vacation in the Caribbean - surely not too much to ask?  smile

Most my weekends at work are full of gossip and dysfunction at the nursing home I work at, but I have gotten very good at remembering my part in it and detachment. I know you work a great program and we all have slips all you can do is wipe yourself off and remember why you work in this field, I am sure you are great at what you do! Sending you love and support!

Your turn!!  Someone had to step up when I left the system and here you are.  You're still in one peace and how much of that is due to your program.  How often did you decide to go crazy with them?  That was a viable question for me...the one about what do I want to do with this and then follow thru.  I've put them in group and walked out to call the cops before entering the group again with a smile on my face just waiting for the front door bell to ring.   Actually brother all of the power is yours and when my administration let me know that with a smile I used  it respectfully and as often as I could.  The ones that wanted recovery were prime and the other little smudges got the difference that what they were looking for.

I smile at your description of your weekend with the experience of knowing all I had to do was lay in surgery and then recovery from pressure inside of my own head.  I ain't funning you cause I actually have fit in your chair before.  You fulfilled your choices as I did mine.  You're doing good now???   So am I.   Great job PC  and thanks for the reality share.   ((((hugs)))) smile

It was a bit nutty this week too but not as bad. People are not working as well as a team. More good stuff happened though. 3 of the kids in the facility complete high school and we has a graduation for them. That was cool. They usually are much further behind and don't progress that far academically so this was nice.

Do you suppose it has anything to do with it being Easter weekend?

There is a slogan in our literature about "taking the bitter with the better" which I have always been grateful for and love to remember when life gets "sucky".  We use to do he celebrations stong when one of the kids and or their family made stride and stayed human.  When they use to smack the wall we use to get quiet as all get out...kinda smirky and then ask them to tell their story about it.   Good Job...PC  wink

I think a large part of my frustration is that none of my therapists are really happy working there and I can't fix that for them. One of them is slipping more and more behind. I need to write her up and that will probably make her quit. I tell people to do things and they don't do them too frequently and then if I write them up or they quit, I probably wind up doing the work myself. That's annoying.

It is interesting to watch now when people are unhappy. Most people have good motives so I usually ask now what value they have that is not in alignment. It leads to an interesting conversation. I know it is frustrating to have to do all the work.
