10th & 11th Steps

Hi Everyone!!  Was just thinking about the 10th and 11th steps  ... seems I get stuck on these two every so often:

Tenth Step Prayer
I pray I am continue:To grow in understanding  and  effectiveness; To take daily spot-check inventories of myself; To correct mistakes when I make them;To take responsibility for my actions; To be ever aware of my negative and self-defeating attitudes and behaviors; To keep my willfulness in check; To always remember I need Your help;To keep love and tolerance of others as my code; And to continue in daily prayer how I can best serve You, my Higher Power.

Eleventh Step Prayer

Higher Power, as I understand You, I pray to keep open my connection with
You and to keep it clear from the confusion of daily life. Through my prayers and meditations, I ask especially for freedom from self-will, rationalization, and wishful thinking. I pray for the guidance of correct thought and positive action. Your will,
Higher Power, not mine, be done.

I definitely have to revisit these two steps when I find my frustration level with home and work life get the better of me!!   It is so necessary to check in with HP!!  :)

Do hope everyone is well, haven't posted in a while.

Oh yes, Debbs,

I hang about on these steps, quite a lot of the time... when I need to put my hand up I get get to Step 1...

...when I walked in here I saw the steps like the numbers on the clock... just doing the rounds of the clock. I didn't like the idea of getting to Step 12 and then falling off the stairs!

Not sure where that sits now... ok, so i can use the Step 11 prayer to see the way through...

                               ...thanks... smile...  ...      ...           ...

Dear Debb, thank you for your insightful posting on the 10th and 11th step. The Courage to Change refers to these steps as "maintenance steps "and I can understand why.

I practice the 10th step every evening before I go to bed. I review my day, making note of all the positive, constructive actions that I did as well as the negatives. As I examine my motives for each I determine the type of amends that I will need to make as soon as possible. I feel this step is crucial so that I do not build up a backlog of destructive actions that need corrections.

The 11th step is also a step that I perform every morning, along with my third step prayer. I love this step because not only do I ask for knowledge of HP's will, but it assures me that I will be given the power to carry it out. Whatever that task m ay be.

Your recovery is another Miracle in Progress,

Debb, thanks for sharing these. They are a checklist to live by these steps. I like lists and clear to do lists. These are a bit more complex or they reveal the complexities but they are pretty straightforward too. I agree your progress has been amazing.x
