RE: Boyfriend of 4 years-and the father of my child-leaves me while in recovery

oh absolutely pink chip... I meant to say without a recovery program,, meaning AA or rehab or both.. but I'm no expert on that either.. just saying not all people who use are alcoholics in my mind, no matter good for you for staying sober!

Thanks for sharing how you are doing Dawn:) the way you are feeling is a normal grieving process...be gentle with yourself as you go through it. If you had known then what you know now you probably would not have chose him. The alcoholics in my past were all very charming and exciting, hence I loved them at that time. Now I'm learning to value quiet and serenity. Keep reminding yourself his issues are his, it's about him and does not reflect on you at all. Some loving affirmations or saying the serenity prayer in your mind over and over again can help you keep your focus on yourself and your precious baby girl. Please continue to post and let us know how you are. In support and many prayers for you and your baby

I attended my first online meeting tonight! it was very empowering.....However, I do see where facetoface would be of great advantage. I work fulltime and go to school fulltime....However, I WILL fit some face to face meetings in because I am serious about my recovery!

Finding the best face to face meeting to me was like finding the best school or social setting. They are all different. BUT a meeting that did not match all my personal preferences was so much better than no meeting at all.

Try a few and remember even if personalities are different from yours the dealing with an alcoholic is so similar, so many of the stories are the same we all can help eachother.

Take what you like and leave the rest.

I learned that I eventually liked almost everything and almost everyone in time.

If you can not find info you need for your area for in person meetings online "hot rod" here on this board may be able to help she seems to know about that.

I found the websites in the Dallas area to be a bit confusing as to when and where. where are you located?.. let us know if you find what you need please.. I have you in my prayers.
