ODAT and C2C 1-23

ODAT for today emphasizes that learning how to use the Al-Anon program, in every part of our life is not a simple matter.  The reading point out that  walking the walk, in every part of our life,  requires more than going to a meeting now and then.

. It compares learning the alanon program to deciding to learn another language or study art or science.  In order to master these difficult classes  we would have to work at it every day and practice  all that  we learned until they become part of us.. A philosopher or an artist studies every day for years to perfect himself. How can we hope to be perfect in using the Al-Anon program without daily application of it.

The quote is from Proverbs :  I pray for the steadfastness to read every day something that will help me to gain understanding

C2C  Speaks about he power of Step 3

In the First Step  I admit I am powerless over alcoholism, 2nd Step I I begin to accept that  a power greater than I could restore me to sanity and in  the 3rd Step I attempt to turn to this Power for guidance.

I love the reminder for the day as it  reminds me that  at the  start of each day I can make the decision to turn my will over and by  so  doings I am moving in  a healthy direction.

I have found that turning my will over was a process.  Once I said the 3rd Step prayer in the morning, I became more aware of my choices and more mindful of my actions.  That helped tremendously.
Thank you alanon and MIP.

Thank you for the reflections on today's readings, Betty. I can certainly relate to both.

Just what I needed today, HR. So so true. It's easy to read the words, but to actually believe it in your soul and work it, you have to reach deep inside yourself and pull those defects of character out. It is like learning a new language. You can keep repeated the words over and over then finally a light comes on and you understand what the words actually mean.

Thanks HR.

It works if you work it.

Thank you Betty ;) the odat great reading. Reminding me to use the principals I learn in the program in all my affairs. I do two to four face to face meetings a week, pray and exercise every day for a hour. I need the routine. I also see some forgiveness of self in this reading....meaning that I had 39 years of practicing fear and my disease. I need to be gentle with myself when I slip as I am learning a entirely new way of living...living based on faith;) another thing that standed out to me was the use of right now several times in the reminder. Breaking the day down to tiny increments makes me more likely to succeed in my program, if I focus on right now, minding my own business and keeping the focus on myself and my motives. This is a day by day program and each day I am serene and peaceful is a celebration. I'm so grateful to my hp and the program, as my life was constant chaos and drama before the program and most of it was of my own making.
Courage to change ;) when I stay in steps one, two and three..I am able to keep my serenity. Keeping the focus once again on what is my business and what is not...good reminder I am not responsible for anyone else's life only mine. When I trust God with everything life just flows. It's quiet.
I love how you post the daily readings Betty ;) im grateful to be able to reflect and share on the days I can't get to a f2f meeting. Thank you so much for your service. I'm grateful.

Thank you Betty.  I know if I don't brush my teeth each day, they will decay.  If I don't practice the 12 steps each day, I will decay....simple.

Betty, thank you for posting these every day. I'm floundering in working my program right now and it really helps to keep my focus when I come here and I see these reminders.

Karma, thank you for your share today. It helped me.

P.S. I love seeing the babies on the board! There is no greater reminder of God's miracle here on earth than in newborn babies. <3
