Overwhelmed~ Thank God for Al-anon!

I have come such a very long way from where I was when I found al-anon. Next week is finals and while I am close to filing bankruptcy and all that fun stress that comes with it. I am studying for a test this coming Friday, Monday, Wednesday and last exam next Friday! Wow is the stress on and without my al-anon tool belt I would be going ape, but I am calm and serene and taking things one thing at a time as it comes as I have to deal with it right now. I am 4 years into my al-anon recovery journey and 2 years into my 3 year program and I just keep amazing myself. I have become such a stable, compassionate and motivated person. I am actually proud of myself right now. I have work to do and am far from done, but I am okay with right where I am in the middle of my messy life! Thanks MIP for being there to love and support me when I need lifted up, I do not have a family in the sense, besides my 2 girls, but here I feel the love! I have great friends that are like family also and I am so grateful for everything I have right now. Money is the least of my worries. I have it all, we are all healthy and growing. My 16 year old is devoting her community hours at the head start program where her sister attended 2 years ago and the teachers there are just raving about what a great person she is. I am so proud of both of my girls and that they have such beautiful hearts! Keep on keeping on MIP family. Sending you all love and support on your journey's!

You and your girls are loved here, BF.  It warms my heart to hear you own and acknowledge your value; you are a wonderful womanly role model for your girls.

Wow!  Only a year to go, BF, and you're finished with schooling and getting your cap or pin or whatever is given to folks willing to do all the hard work that goes into being an RN.  I love that you haven't allowed anything or anyone get in the way of what you see to be your HP's guidance and leading!  Good luck with the exams!  Glad to hear your girls are doing well and that your oldest is appreciated where she is working.

Your share brought tears to my eyes, BF! I'm so happy that you are seeing the program at work in your life especially with all that you have going on!
Yesterday I was having a mini-breakdown with stress about getting presents out in time to ship back east, organizing things to get ready to sell the house, putting stuff in storage and what to box up now, blah blah blah......you get the picture. I was amazed at how quickly I was able to calm down and just say, "Do the next thing. What is it that is next and forget about the rest." Before program, I would have been hyperventilating and those overwhelmed feelings would have controlled me by the end of the day. One thing at a time, one step at a time, one day at a time.

Thanks for sharing, we're so blessed to have you here at MIP where you can spread the good news of Al Anon and what is doing for you and your girls. HUGS!

HI BF. I can certainly identify with you when you said you have come a long way since finding Al-Anon. The change is amazing. Good luck on your tests. I know you are going to do well. I'm praying you and your girls will have a wonderful Christmas.

Take care of you.

Keep working your program because it's definitely working for you!smile

Your post makes me think of the phrase - HP never gives us more than we can handle; and I think we don't take on more than we think we can handle as well, you must have been feeling so much stronger to have taken on so much - wonderful feeling so much stronger, isn't it?

I do feel much stronger at this point of my life compared to times past, when the smallest thing would set me off and make me want to run and hide under denial and avoidance. I took one test and now 1 on Monday, 1 on Wednesday and last 1 on Friday. Man I can't wait until next Friday is over and I get a break,!!!! Thanks for the love and support all!

Congratulations on nursing school. You will never have to worry about having a job..trust me. I've been a RN for 24 years now and always have plenty of work. You can be self-supporting, and that's a good thing. Glad to hear you and your girls are doing well.
