Bed Bugs

This is definitely a gross topic no My AH called this morning pretty upset and said that the 1/2 way house and the 3/4 way house which sit next door to each other are infested with bed bugs and they were told not to tell anyone! He was upset because a few months ago he told me of the problem at the same houses and I told him there was no way I would visit then if they have an active infestation because I won't take the chance of carrying them back to my house.

He is really upset and doesn't know what to do. We won't be able to do the activities we are assigned by the marriage counselor if I don't go visit. Me, I am not to worried about it because I know my boundary and it is what it is. I did however file complaints with our local and state agencies because I find it utterly ridiculous to tell the guys living there not to tell anyone and to wrap your bed in saran wrap. Families have the right to know so they can make an informed decision on whether to visit or not.

I didn't respond to much to him when he was ranting and raving, other than to offer the suggestion that he call his attorney and let her know, tell the staff that as a client that has to pay to stay in that place he expects a solution. Basically I told him to just do what I do, say what you mean, mean what you say and don't say it meanly. I felt pretty good this morning that this newest issue didn't really trigger a huge reaction from me. Progress!

Good work Flower I agree with Temple. Recovery does look good on you.

I live in a huge apartment building and any time a neighbor reports a "Bed Bug infestation", the management office sends around a "Bed Bug sniffing dog named "Buggies". He comes in with his handler and walks all around the apartment, into closets etc and if he sits down you have bed bugs I have had him visit 2 xs in the past year and each and time I pray that he does not sit. Fortunately he has walked about and left without sitting.:) I understand that the effort involved in debugging is huge. The serenity prayer worked very well during that stressful period.

What a mess. Don't tell anybody at a 3/4 house and secrets are a major no-no in recovery. Pooh on that instruction says I. I think you handled this so well, Linda.

Sadly most all these type places have bed bugs. Shelters all have them. Now we are seeing them more and more in schools!!!

Good for you for protecting you and kiddos!
