Sunny day

Lovely bright, sunny day here in the UK.  Sat quietly enjoying the warmth and motivation I am getting from reading these boards.

I had quite a few maintenance jobs that needed doing around my home.  I am feeling very blessed as I can hear the builder I have employed to do them working away.  The work will be done well, will last, done thoroughly and look good.  They will also be completed and finished off nicely.  Will be done in a day.  Any mess made in the process, sawdust etc, will be nicely cleaned up.  The builder I have picked is a very calm and quiet chap.  This was very important to me, that any visitors only bring calm energy into my home.

I also have a gas engineer coming later to replace my gas supply meter for a more up to date, safer one.  I phoned and asked the company that they do that.  They agreed.  Are doing it for free.   I would never have thought to do this before.

The old way to do things here was the sloppy, chaotic, never finished, messy way.  I used to allow my AH to get involved and turn everything into a crisis.  Also the money wouldn't have been spent on this, it would have been spent on stupid things that quickly became clutter or holidays we didn't want but were booked to give a very short term buzz.

I feel very grateful for my program which has made all this possible.   That I have good boundaries and know what I want.  I want a nice, well run, clutter free, well maintained, serene home.  I work my program to make sure I have this.

Miracle in progress indeed.

Thank you all for being here.

Hello Katy

Thanks for your reply.  LOL!  I relate to the lights that were sat on the floor for three years!!

That sort of thing drove me nuts, hence my joy at getting a professional in, plus a professional doesn't expect a medal and that you will say thank you a hundred times!!  smile

I am in the south west, has been sunny all morning but looks like rain coming my way now.

I love the shares here, makes me realise that things I had thought were normal, aren't!!

All the best to you Katy.

Sounds lovely, im in scotland, heavy shkwers here but lovely sunshine in between. I must admit to being a half a job person too whilst living In the madness, it must be a symptom of dysfunction. I love the serene image you paint, very enticing, I want order and calm too.x

Thank you for the lovely replies, Hotrod, PP, El-cee and Gratefultobe.

I have always yearned for a peaceful, calm home. Having always lived in chaos. My parents, the dysfunctional partners I have always been attracted to and my own!

I love my home now. When people visit they usually comment about what a calm, serene place it is. The décor is very calming too. Very light in colour and lots of light coming in and plenty of space.

El-cee, my family were originally from Scotland. Not sure which part though.

I am very pleased with the work done and the builder I picked proved to be very calm, quiet and did a thorough job. I had building work done a few years ago and of course because of how I was at the time, I attracted A's. They came and did the quote and it struck me how well I got on with them!! Duh, well of course I did, I felt very comfortable with their insane mania!! Anyways it was major work and should have taken 8 weeks but what with them going off on drinking binges, it took three months and in the end I got fed up, sacked the A's and got someone reliable in to finish it!

This time I acted differently. I learnt a lot from the previous experience. I now see 'red flags' on people rather than feeling toxically comfortable with their behaviours.
