I ask that you send some to the Big Island of Hawaii especially for a sober alcoholic/addict who is attempting to abide with his mother who is currently active alcoholic. He is a sponsee and doing a good job on his own program remaining clean and sober while attempting to be helpful and not enabling...He took her to the hospital tonight told them she was alcoholic and they treated her for malnutrition and dehydration (dehydration is common in alcoholism) then the hospital discharged her back into homelessness with the exception of her car which they both are living out of. They have positive merits coming soon...housing for him and rehab for her and then all we can do is live in the day right...we do that often with prayers from others who know about this disease we struggle thru because they have also worn our shoes. Mahalo and Aloha in advance.
I knew an alcoholic who lived a horrible life and finally stopped drinking and also agreed to take Antabuse. I asked him what it was that led to his decision to stop drinking? He told me he got sick of sleeping in cars. My prayers are for all people who struggle with this disease and for these two for whom the memory of sleeping in a car may be enough to keep them working on their own sobriety and recovery. Good that they both have a good change to look forward to now.
Done. Adding to my gratitude list that your friend has you to help. Such a struggle for him and his mother! I hope your beautiful weather holds out, too.
Alcoholism is a very cruel disease I have had to witness. My thoughts to anyone who is suffering from it and best wishes to all in recovery. May you all find peace x
