level.
I love how AlAnon helps in all areas of our life; not just the life w/ the A.
I am an office manager and a diet coach at a doctor's office. Wednesdays are dedicated to supporting our dieters who come in for their weekly weigh-in, meaurements and encouragement. A new dieter this week asked, "What if it doesn't work, do you have ways to analyze that and figure out why?" I simply answered, "I can't solve problems that have not yet happened." She was was about to ask again, but stopped & smiled as she realized what I had said, and accepted it. :) It also spoke to me as the words came out of my mouth.
I can't solve problems that have not yet happened.
(((B))) That is so true. Living in the present moment is so much easier than worrying about a future that might never happen. Telling ourselves stories can scare us or depress us or give us false hope. Living one day at a time by focusing on ourselves and what is happening now makes life so much simpler for us. I've lived in my mind in the past and in the future and return to it from time to time. Al-Anon helps me with this. Glad you're here today, Blessed.
Such wisdom! Simple, but true. I'm often guilty of creating a future in my mind, when the truth is--I don't have to worry about those problems; they haven't happened. What's that slogan--F.E.A.R. = Future Events Aren't Real. So true. Also, the gem from the modern classic Kung Fu Panda: "Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. Today is a gift. That's why we call it the present." Sometimes it's hard, but trying to focus on the gift of today, of the pleasure of unwrapping that gift, really helps...one day at a time.
Good for you for internalizing this truth, Blessed.
Yes so true and beautiful, thanks for sharing.
Today at work I was getting a bit agitated as I started to think about a lot of things that might not happen in the future but were already happening in my head.
I quickly shake of my head and a reminder to 'do the next right thing' TODAY, NOW, sorted me out and I had a much better day.
