Stuff I learned in Alanon...

I learned to speak, and I learned to speak for myself...

I went through a long periods where I had so much to say... but in recent times this has slowed down, thankfully... biggrin

In m first years I really wanted to reach out and help people who shared. I was one of those who really wanted to do my 12th step first! biggrin

I found that by coming back that 19 times out of 20 people would keep sharing and create their own solutions... these were much better ones than anything I could dream up!

Often things I said seemed out of whack- but I had to put it out there to grow, and mature... progress, not perfection. smile

I remember doing that too Dave...must have been in the same rooms as you only working a different section...lol   Those people also arrived at their own solutions with a Higher Power greater than I.  I was amazed and ....out of work so I had to work on myself.    Thanks for the memories (((hugs))) smile

I think that many of us who have been blessed with the character defect of compulsive caretaking (old survival skill for us ACs) bring it with us into the room at first. Yet the wisdom of the rooms (and of HP who lives in the rooms) eventually brought my view back to my side of the street.

Thanks y'all for your responses... some of us have history... we know each other and our lives in a way our families could not ever imagine.

1911- this bring sweet fresh spring tears to ma eyes... I desperately needed to be loved and needed... and that was the only way I knew how... I felt that is I loved and cared enough someone, one day would see the person I am... aww

I still think when you ask your HP for a teacher the teacher magically appears. That is the miracle of this program and I am so fortunate to have it in my life. Bless all of you!!!!

Hey,,, yay! This a part of the magic of the boards... sometimes we end up talking with each other in real time... it does create a real bond- and trust and affection only the programme can give us all... smile
