Day 5 ...... A little tougher but going strong

So Day 5 has been equal amounts of emotions, however of the "grouchy" kind. I was very tired today but for some reason having a hard time resting.

I just keep telling myself "I am one puff away from a pack a day" .... Not that I smoked that much but love the mantra... Lol

When I was quitting I would think about my son being the alcoholic and he quit but just took that one drink it would start all over again, so I was determined not to take that first puff. It was a challenge on how really strong I could be.

That is a good philosophy. Even AA tells us basically to stay away from the 1st drink. It's the 1st one that is the one that wrecks me. Cigarettes was the same.

I used everything I ever learned in recovery to keep me off of smoking...everything.  I relapsed 4 or so times with each relapse getting worse.  I went from cigarettes to cigars because I just couldn't get enough nicotine from cigarettes anymore.  Last time I smoked it drove me into a doctors office because I was sure I was killing myself (I was born tuberculic  also.)  I don't feel the insanity anymore or the compulsion to smoke.  Thank you program and God.   ((((hugs)))) smile
