I got a call last night from my X and the my sons hearing is this morning. He and his wife are going to be there and so will I. I don't think our son even knows we know what happen to him because he has not tried to call us. We will go in support and pray for him. I'm looking at this as hopefully his start into recovery. If not this choice he made to drive is going to be some very difficult years for him.
I love my son dearly and with the help of Al-anon and MIP I will let go and let God take care of him.
I went to the doctor and all is OK with my neck. Just going to be sore for a while. Now to stop falling off the bed hehe.. My anxiety is less now and I am excepting what is because I realize it's out of my hands and I'm powerless.
Continue to take care of you my friends because that we do have power over.

The way he was going Cathy, if he didn't wind up dead, it was going to be jail. This is the better option. And I do know several people that jail is what it took for them to finally get sober. We have an institutions committee that brings meetings in and out of jails within AA. Also, I am thinking that your state probably has correctional programs for addicts that may shorten their sentences if they cooperate. I have colleagues that work as counselors in jails and they are doing primarily addictions counseling.
Cathy one concern! Is there a possibility that they will propose releasing him into your custody so that you are responsible for his behavior? You might be ready for that contingency and find the strength to say no. Serenity's quote is spot on- problem is we moms just hate to see our kids facing severe consequences for their own choices and try to help. Wishing you strength and peace whatever comes out of this.
3rd dui in 3 years. In AZ he could not get out on his first dui without bail. 5 grand

I'd venture to say he doesnt know the half that happened to him either...! A Big Good Luck to you Cathy, be strong. Its awesome that his whole family is showing up for support, some guys don't have anyone for support, he is really fortunate.....og
