I know it will work out for the best.

Hi Everyone,

My name is slogan_jim and I am a grateful member of al-anon.

Soon I will hopefully be looking at purchasing my first home. In the next few months I will be undertaking on a big project in my life. I have been preparing for it for awhile and it is a major step in a person's life. Unlike most, (there are probably more than I think though) I will be going at this alone. Figuring it all out by myself. I have asked for the alcoholic's input but don't necessarily trust his input at this stage.

One thing I know is I will need to be patient. Take it slow. one day at a time. I am already blessed and whatever is meant to be will work out.

Keep coming back.

I think there is no better time than now to purchase a home. The market is going up again so time is now to get in before it's too late and more money needed. Your going to be so proud and happy with yourself doing this I think. I remember buying my first home and how scary it was but I did it and kept it.

Yes take it slow and ask a lot of questions of the experts, realtors and banks because going it alone is not the Al-anon way.

Take care and keep coming back...

((( hugs )))

Good luck with your house search, Jim. Congratulations on deciding you want to do this and following through with the process! I bought a house on my own, too after going through 30 or 40 until I found the one that was right for me at the time. Owning my own home has had its share of issues, but there is freedom I wouldn't have had if I continued to live in rental units. I pay less for my home than I would living in an apartment that has what I want and don't have to worry about who is cooking meth in my building. Keep us posted.

Congratulations and wishing you all the happiness!!! What an exciting time!!! You're not alone; I purchased my house alone, as well. I was married to my A at the time, but he preferred that I handle everything- said he trusted me to choose the house and make all of the arrangements and he would be satisfied with whatever I did. (seems kinda crazy and it was, but he wanted zero responsibility and that's how it rolled out) For me, it was a tremendous learning and growth experience. So many new things can start to feel overwhelming quickly. Most people do feel overwhelmed when buying their first home. Trust your gut and break it down and handle one thing at a time. Don't forget to enjoy!
