Read "Getting them Sober" last night. Thanks for the recommendation

What a great read!

I feel a little less powerless, or, I recognize that I am not the only one who is powerless, and that makes me feel a little less powerless.

I dont have to check up on her.

I dont have to 'convince' her she abuses alcohol

I can have compassion for her.

I have to get myself better.  As I've said before, I am CRAZY Codependant.

Started praying again this week, for the first time in too many years. First thing I realized is that I am afraid to ask God for help...

Anyways, thanks everyone, Happy VD-Day!

I read it many times to remember what my part is in this disease. I do it for my son but the issues are the same. I also read " Setting Boundaries with you Adult Children " another good read. Even though she not your child it might help about setting some boundaries that can be apply for you and your wife.

God is always there even though you haven't talked to him in a while. Just say HI and talk to him....he will listen.

((( hugs ))))

"I'm afraid to ask God for help"...that was a good journal question for me.   Why am I so afraid to ask God for help? and then find out the whys.  Be honest and humble with this question and if you have a sponsor to work it with you by all means because a sponsor knows the question...the process and their solution.   smile

Hi, I agree these books are great for awareness and getting started but they dont provide you with tools needed to recover from alcoholism, they arent conference approved alanon literature. They are great for helping open your eyes but im not sure they will take you any further. Thats where alanon comes in. If you want to make changes to your way of thinking and your life then you should go to a meeting, get the newcomers pack and begin to study this program,  your life will change so much. Good luck.x

El-cee, I agree. These are great "awareness" books. Meetings start the acceptance and action!
