Al-non : The message of 12 Step recovery in all my affairs

Dear All,

Hi my name is James MS. I am a greatful member of Al-non for many years. This is my great attempt to carry the message of recovery in all my affiairs. When I first came to Al-non I was a mess. I was riddled with alcoholism and defects. My personal hygiene was terrible. I went to university in a out for 5 years. I struggled without an active program for 3 out of the 5 years. I went to Al-non and Alaateen meetings just outside my university just stuck in with the disease of alcoholism. I decided to go to AA all because I was in so much denial I thought I was an alcoholic. I spent two years going through the Steps the Wally P AA way for two years. My denial broke. I went back to Al-non and back to university. I went through the steps the Al-non way with my Al-non sponsor. Working a Al-non 12 step progran enabled me to find peace and serenity. I then had a nervous breakdown two weeks before my final exama at university. I cam home from university straight back into the local Al-non meeting. I started going through the steps again with my current Al-non sponsor. We are currrently at Steo 8. Steo 8 is going very well at the moment. We are half way through Step 8. Currently, I am struggling to look after myself and put my personal hygiene needs first. I don' t know what to do about my laziness and bad personal hygiene. One think I can say. As a result of working the program I am living a life which is happy, joyous, and free!. With all my love and support forever to everyone in the forum. With all my love and support.

Dear James,

Welcome to Miracles in Progress. I am glad that you found our message board and are willing to share your experience, strength and hope. Being up to step eight is certainly an accomplishment and it is  evident that you are working very hard in your program.

Thank you for your honesty and I look forward to sharing the journey with you

Aloha and welcome James...that share sounded like it came out of my own journal also.  As you have found out the program isn't about perfection...just progress which helps me to reach newer levels of recovery over time.  I can procrastinate about certain responsibilities I have and then I know that with practicing new and different behaviors I will change.   All in good time...or said a different way "All in Gods time with God standing for Good Orderly Direction".   Good luck on step 8.  That one took me time because I had to go back a ways in research.   Keep coming back.   ((((hugs)))) smile
