Yaaay :-)

I hadn't been back to a meeting since before Christmas. Meetings weren't on for a few weeks over the holidays, and the few I had attended prior had only 2 members and I've mentioned before, it was kinda repetetive so I'd only dragged myself to a few....well today I went to it ANYWAY and there were 8 people there!!! OMG!! They treated me as a newcomer since I'd never met any of them before and there were lots of hugs and welcomes and "keep coming back"'s. Now I don't know how or why I managed to start attending at a time when no-one was showing up but they all seemed to know one another, and said "see you next week" and such, indicating that this is going to be a regular occurance. I felt so at home.  Plus I borrowed a book from someone so I kinda hafta get myself back there next week There is also a night-time one that isn't exactly convenient to get to but I liked today so well that I just might find a way...

Now if there's one thing I know for sure at the moment, it's that I NEED face to face contact with positive people so this, today, was just magic.

Yaaaay! That was SO what I needed.

It was a biro, of all things, that got me off my backside, showered and into fresh clothes and into the meeting. I sat down to do some study this morning thinking "oh, maybe I'll just study today, that's more productive than riding to a meeting that might not even be on" and then I realised ABF had taken my biro from my desk and stashed it in his rubbish-room and furthermore he had taken the batteries out of my keyboard and as I was stomping around the house slamming drawers and muttering "selfish selfish SELFISH" I took a look at myself raging over a biro and 2 batteries and thought OK, wow. I think I might need to just go and hope that it's on because this is just a nutso way to behave.
At the end of the meeting they asked everyone to pick the slogan that best fits them today and that was easy-peasy for me....can you guess?

I'd love to say Yes and it would be a lie.  What slogan was the one you picked?  And what is a biro?  (Fortunately, I get the batteries part.)  I really liked the fact that you focused on yourself and then took another step in recoverysmile.

First one that came to my mind was "Easy Does It." So, I'm glad I asked. And.......what's a biro?

How great is that. Being with others in your situation is so important just to talk to learn. I'm happy for you...you made my day just thinking about you

((( hugs )))

Being here and feeling validated (and allowed to not always get it right) has really opened me up to the possibility that people might actually like having me as a part of their group. I think previously I would have been looking at my feet or examining my fingernails and thinking "I must seem so stupid, these people must think I'm completely mental, etc etc". Instead I just perceived that I was welcome, and I felt welcome and was interested in what others had to say. I used to be so worried about what I was saying or what I was going to say next that I barely even noticed who anyone else actually was or what they were saying, it was just all about how I thought they were reflecting me.

So maybe it was just the right time for me today

I bet when you first came to MIP you felt different. But as time go's on you discovered we are all family without conditions or judgement. Hell there might be one or two people that don't get it but that's when the phrase
" what they think of me is none of my business " comes to mind.

I yam what I yam.....as Popeye would say.

Yes there is nothing like a great meeting! I am so glad someone asked what a biro was, and yes how important is it, is a great one. QTIP has been my favorite lately. Sending you love and support!
