Seeing myself

Last night at my F2F meeting, we had two newcomers.  They looked scared and in pain and had not a clue what our meeting was going to be like.  I saw myself so vividly.  My first F2F meeting was at the end of June and I was so scared to be in the room with strangers.  I listened to all the shares and when it was my turn I told them why I had come.  At the end they said welcome and keep coming back.  No judgement, no pity, just nice people who seemed to understand what I was going through.  I felt such a relief after that first meeting and I hope the new people felt that way too.  I am just getting to understand what this fellowship is all about.  WOW, Lyne

Nice share Lyne and a great awareness.

Alanon is  truly a fellowship of equals.  We can  all identify with each other and are not strangers once we walk in that door and share.

Glad you kept coming back .

Yeah I feel for the newcomers and when they cry I so much know what their going through. The hurt they have inside just kills me. I want to just go over and give them a big big hug and say it will be OK while they share. The one's that come, crying and not say a word is even worse knowing they are so broken.

I try at least afterwards to introduce myself and give them some hope and encouragement to come back. The one's that continue to cry I will give a hug too. At least they can go away with somewhat of a smile on their face.

((( hugs )))

I was so grateful for finding MIP first, and for having attended several online meetings before my first f2f. Had I done f2f first, I would have been a train wreck.
My f2f group was also impressed with my understanding of the program. This site is truly a blessing. I'm honored to be a participant.
