Won't go into any details, but 2014 started showing itself to be a good year right off the bat. Got a check for work I did almost 2 years ago and had given up on ever getting, got several very good, well paying jobs back to back, bought and sold a car (1998 Cadillac DeVille) and while I didn't make any real money on it, it locked my money up in the driveway until it sold, so I didn't have it burning a hole in my pocket. Christmas eve was spent in a jacuzzi tub with my girlfriend (will leave details to your imagination)... and well... New Years day... we made a decision. She would be moving back in with me, now that she has put some sobriety together, gotten a very good sponsor, a strong female support network, does service work for her home group, continues her outpatient treatment program 3 days a week, etc. I told her I didn't want her living in "my" house, I wanted her to help turn it into "our" home. And man did she take that very literally! LOL My bedroom was institution gray, with one purple wall, a bed on a frame, cheapo blinds over the windows, two old wooden dressers with a chest of drawers that came out of the 1960's, and a 25 inch box tv, on a 2x4 stand I had made. Here is a picture of what she turned it into over the past week.
My bathroom was a puke green color with brown rugs and shower curtain... quite the match, huh? LOL
I had a 13 inch TV/VCR combo on a wall mount stand above the toilet pointing in the direction of the tub, as I sometimes like to just lay in there and watch a movie. yep, I do stuff like that from time to time. Well, She got rid of my TV and mounted stand and hooked me up with a flexible stand to hold my Samsung table over the tub, right in front of me. Painted the bathroom with a two tone blue, and white shower curtain and rugs. Here is the results of a woman putting her touch on things!
The living room hasn't underwent any great change yet, but I know its coming... it will be followed by the kitchen and dining room area. I am sure she will keep picking at it until it is done. In the main time we started the living room with adding a big 60 inch Vizio Smart TV mounted on the wall, matched with a 1000 watt surround sound system. She took the 55 inch from the living room and put it in the bedroom. (Gonna make sure she isn't stuck watching what I want to watch lol)
MY next task is the back patio... its really a big mess! LOL

(((J))) You sound so very happy! I'm happy for you, too. I can remember the hard year you had and to see things looking up for you is delightful to me. Only - I, like the others, would love to see the pictures!
Thank you for letting us see all the good that is being brought into your life. To answer your question: Can't you have your own mess? Well, I thought you said you told her you wanted her to make it your home? Since you asked her to do what she is doing, the answer to your question is "NO." (What does a glass aquarium and two DVD players do to help you with your business?) Sorry - I'm with her on this one. We nesters stand together.
Keep the pictures coming, John! And your happiness shared with us, too.

It's so pretty......and I'm sure you like the word PRETTY hehe. Tell her to get a second set of bed and windows coverings a little more neutral and that way you both have a change....
(((( hugs ))))

Maybe 2014 will also bring you a "man cave" in which to store all your very important money making stuff. ESH: Remember to put the lid down now, hahaha. Happy New Year and Congratulations on New Beginnings!
