Im sure that thread title sounds like I am a heartless person, but let me explain.
My husband is an recovered (recovering?) A. He never worked a program. After many years ofndestructive drinking, denial, and finally a confrontation from his recovered A son, he talked to his Dr, an using medical support (anti depression meds) he resolved to make drinking a thing of thempast.
But I say "recovering" because he still believes he could drink a little and if he is around certain drinking people (something that doesnt happen often) hemwill have a drink.
So, when we got a New Years Eve party invitation from one of "those" people, and he accepted (although he commented to me that NY eve parties arent much fun since he doesnt drink) I was braced for an evening where he would have to grapple with either having a few drinks to "be a good sport" or his making the decision to not drink (I planned to stay out of his decision making).
Anyway, he ended up coming down with a terrible cold and we had to send our regrets. And I have to admit, I am not sorry that he got sick!

"We make our plans and the gods laugh." Quick!!!! Go get a face mask from the drugstore. If that won't work, wear some eyeglasses to hold a Kleenex over your nose and mouth. Hopefully, it will protect you from the crud.
Lol, there was a guy on the plane we were on Christmas day wearing one of those face masks-and my husband was chuckling about it (actually wondering if the cold virus could pass through the fibers of the mask).
