Al-Anon has given me choices.

Hey everyone,

My name is slogan_Jim and I am a grateful member of al-anon.

My alcoholic father just called and said he wanted to take me out to dinner tonight. In theory that sounds great and should be a good time. He was sober and seems like he's been for a few days (he also called Thursday to say hi and was fine) I am now getting ready anticipating the disapointment.

A few years ago on my bday he showed up to the same restaurant drunk, and drove himself there. He was loud and obnoxious. Thankfully we left without incident but I am still really on edge.

Thinking it over, I know I have options to say no and make a judgement call. 'If you are drunk, I am not going'. That's something I am grateful al-anon has given me, is choices.

Thanks.

Good Share Jim

Having cchoices is a powerful  tool to hold in our tool box

Even if you are out and the situation becomes  difficult the choices or different options  are still available

I do hope you have an enjoyable dinner.
