Things we are doing to get better-lets make a list

I love all your efforts

I would add that I go to three Alanon  meetings a week

Go to a yoga class 5 times a week

Volunteer at a homeless shelter once a week

Have tea with a friend once a week and lunch with a sponsee each week

I have to remind myself lately of what I am actively doing to get better as I feel a little stuck, restless or something. I am eating something healthier most days, trying to remember to take vitamins, walking a few times a week, and praying way more. As a result I feel better than I did when I found MIP. Thank HP as I was not doing well when I found this group at all. Also posting here, reading, feeling more grateful and trying in earnest to help people along the way a little more. What are some of the things you are doing to get better? What has helped the most?

Those are excellent things you have put into effect, mm830. I need to remember to do those every day.

For me, it has been changing the habit of seeking/needing/expecting approval from others about my life and my decisions, into obtaining it from myself, or checking in with HP about it.

I hope that doesn't sound pretentious. It's so very relevant to me on a daily basis and probably one of the biggest habits I've ever changed.

My goals each day - which I assure you I don't meet most of the time. But, I am willing.

1. Eat in a God honoring way.

2. Exercise in a God Honoring way.

3. Work on me everyday - doing steps, therapy, etc.

4. Being gentle and Loving to myself and those around me.

5. Try to forgive and let go of resentments daily.

6. Watch my reactions (be willing not to overreact, or ignore things).

7. Pray as often as I can. If I am thinking about it, I need to be praying about it.

8. Give it to my HP on a daily, sometimes hourly basis.

9. Do something fun everyday, just for me(craft, do a puzzle).

10 Work on my relationships to keep them good or make them good.

For me, spending time with my HP first thing every day has been life changing. I read an email devotional every AM almost as soon as I get up. I say 'almost' because I usually get up, turn on my hot water and get my tea bag ready, and then I read my devotional and I meditate on it.

I also make sure I play tennis a few times a week, I try to touch base with some friends at least once a week who I don't see often enough, and I call my sponsor weekly. I also try to get to 2 meetings a week.

I go to my meeting every week. I read my daily readers every day, I read my Just for today card, I try and quieten my mind each day to think about my readings more deeply. I come here, these are all for my recovery from the affects of alcoholism. Thanks for sharing.x

Oh forgot to say, I have been meditating recently, trying to connect with my inner voice, very relaxing and therapeutic.x

I am:

1. Exercising more and (trying to) eat healthier.
2. Focusing on me every day - what do I want/need, and what makes me happy? (it shocks me that I really don't know the answer to this)
3. Keeping a journal and working the activities in 'Co-Dependent No More'.

One day at a time. Yar.

Saying no when I mean no and yes when I mean yes and sticking to both no matter how much flack I get from inside or outside me. Calling my sponsor. Talking with people I trust and listening to them, too. Pulling away from the outer world to spend more time in quiet and reflection. Admitting to myself and to others who care how I am really thinking or feeling. Laughter! Laughter! Laughter!
