I have had long term anti depressant use...different kinds..different brands...never had them while pregnant though. Some of the different ones I have used and tried, effexor xl, prozac, lexapro, and for anxiety attacks, xanax. Let me know what you would like to know about them...be glad to share info, that you need...kat
I stopped taking them while pregnant, because at that time there weren't any studies about woman who were on them while pregnant. My doctor tried to asure me that everything would be fine, but I didn't want to take any risks.

I too find I have switch drugs because they quit working after awhile. The physcian desk books say tests have not been done on pregnant or nursing women. Probably because they can't find enough willing women to take the risk to come up with a valid study. So you have to way the risk yourself because only you know how severe your condition is. Some people have to stay on meds for the baby's safety. It's definately an educated answer you need to find on your own and with your doctor. I applaude you in reaching out and not be ashamed to admit it!

I have taken Paxil and Celexa and Wellbutrin and have gone off of the meds when I was pregnant and I was fine. But as soon as I gave birth both times I had to go back on them. Right now I'm taking Paxil again and am ok but it isn't working as well as before. What else do you want to know about long term affects? I'd be happy to share whatever.
