The material presented
here is not Al-Anon Conference Approved Literature. It is a method
to exchange
information, ideas, feelings, problems and solutions on a personal
level.
This post is for both newcomers and oldtimers. I want all newcomers to know that although you might not see or feel it right now, things will get better. You are in the process of getting better yourself. Stay close, to us here, get to as many face to face meetings as you can in your community, try to find a sponsor that can walk you through the 12 steps, and you didn't cause it, can't control it, and cannot cure it. You are powerless over alcoholism and the alcoholic. Be sure to read Al-Anon literature. Not only does it outline the program but gives you stories of others who have been down the same road you are on. Don't be afraid to ask for phone numbers here of those you feel might be able to help you during those tight spots. In todays world, we are blessed with cell phones that allow people to talk coast to coast, without it costing any more than what your phone providers plan is set up for, and most have unlimited minutes. So there is absolutely no reason to feel like you are alone here. Reach out and we will definitely reach back.
To those of you who have been around here for awhile. I just want to say thank you. I don't believe you can fully grasp, what having you here, and being able to bounce things off of you, and get in turn your experience, strength and hope means to me. As many of you know, I have been tested, and retested, under fire so to speak, and it has always been my ability to touch base here, either by just reading or posting that brought a sense of perspective to whatever I have been struggling with or going through/experiencing. Your strength has often held me up, and let me get to a place where I was standing again, in the sunlite of the spirit. Thank you sooo, sooo, much.
John
PS. Everything is calm and peaceful again, and I am content. What a blessing!

It's true! I speak to people all over the world now thanks to this site! I have recovery friends in 3 countries that I speak to weekly! I have spoken to people from all over the country! You know who you are! Can you believe it!?? Sometimes I can't believe how amazing this life of mine is these days! We get to talk and do the steps together and it's amazing to see recovery works if we work for it no matter where we are in this world! Thanks John, for making all that possible and remaining a humble example : )
JohnI live in a small village in the Highlands of Scotland, the internet opens up the world to me. On a dark winter's night, deep in despair, I googled for help & much popped up but my fingers found their way to MIP where I stopped and read, for many hours...... It calmed me for that night (& many since) as I read and related with much and many. I kept coming back, reached out, did what was suggested and it worked because I was willing to work it.
I applaud what you have placed here on this worldwide web, thank you.
Glad you are feeling content......a good place to be
MIP has saved me so many times from doing something I would regret. I'm grateful to have this place to come to for the support and love that oozes from the pages.
Thank my friend....God has given you a great gift.
