Mahalo Family...

Your love and support; your ESH and gratitudes are the other side of what I feel and yet I cannot walk in a crowd and continue to go my own way.   You lead me...I will follow and I will let you support me cause I cannot support myself for the moment and then why am I here?  Because I cannot do this myself and my Higher Power has put you all in my life...like the garden which is my office...you are flowers for me to just stand with and admire.

To pray for your recovery is to also insure my own.  Going to silence to just listen and watch for a while...learning time and when the student is ready the teachers arrive...(((((hugs))))) smile

((Jerry)))

There has been many times that I have had to simply sit back and listen.  In fact there was a time that I truly  could not pray. I asked others in the program to pray  for me and I felt the power of their prayers.

You are in my thoughts and prayers always

Take the time you need. Here to love and support you- you are not doing this alone. Please be gentle with you as you hear the rattling of the disease's destructive whispers.

A little story, Jerry. A few weeks ago, I discovered something about someone that both disgusted and alarmed me. My mind kept returning to what I'd discovered. My emotions were all over the place. I kept trying to focus on where I was and what I was doing but it was very difficult. No one with me knew what was going on in me. I can hide it well when I think it is necessary. Suddenly, from within my soul came this question: "How do you know this isn't in line with his/her purpose right now?" All that was disturbed in my thinking and in my emotions returned to peace. I smiled and returned fully to the present situation that was mine at that time.

I don't know where you are mentally or emotionally. I don't even know if my story relates to what might be some difficulties for you right now. What I do know - as you do - is that there is a deeper reality than our own that makes itself known from time to time - and helps us rest again in the arms of faith/hope/truth/unconditional love - giving us the energy to do what is ours to do in the Now of our lives. Silent listening beneath the thoughts and emotions that are fleeting is a gift you've learned to cultivate. Peace, brother.

We are here for you Jerry and you know it. Let us help with what we know and give you the courage and strength you have given so freely to us. It so helps this I know.

God grant him the serenity to except the things he can not change
The courage to change the things he can
And please God give him the wisdom to know the difference

(((( hugs ))))

Went to my home group tonight and HP gave us two new comers to the group...one brand new and the other a recent member thru another group.  HP suggested a newcomers meeting which was the best suggestion as I also feel the need to be in step one myself and not alone with my powerlessness.  It worked out great and I think I'll keep coming back including reading these responses...Whanau for sure DavidG...for sure.  (((((hugs))))) smile

`Ike aku, `ike mai, kôkua aku kôkua mai;
pela iho la ka nohana `ohana.

Recognize others, be recognized, help others, be helped; such is a family relationship.

Reading Hawaiian is like peering into deep sparkling waters. In Maori 'ohana is whanau. In the far south the old dialect is ancient- detectable mostly through place names.

Here, we sing things like awhi mai, awhi atu which reads as kokua mai, kokua atu... when we see our Higher Power through Polynesian eyes all people and all things are ultimately related.

When one hurts, the other aches...

...and we are ready to share the hopes and joys of family too...!

Kia miharo my friend, kia manawa, kia mau...

-David.

I've picked up a little of the language from my Maori friend and she sends me songs from time to time.
This is my favourite, a Maori version of my favouritest song ever.

Just love it.

Jerry, I'm praying for you and your son/family.  You have helped me so much, I know you will get through this, BTW, I seem to stay on step 1, but that's ok .  HP (God) loves to help when we are powerless.

I have recently come to realize the absolute importance of feelings. I have unknowingly allowed myself to bottle some up within. I imagine my HP is trying to tell me that I have yet to deal with those feelings and gives me the opportunity to work through those feelings, whole heartedly, from time to time so that I may let go of the negative ones. Anger, resentment and fear. I may not be aware that they even exist because I have become so good at putting myself aside. I love the steps of Alanon because that seems to me to be exactly what it does. Help sort through the feelings and learn to let go. We learn to love ourselves and we learn to accept others as they are. Such a peaceful feeling.

May loving arms surround you Jerry and may your HP guide you to return to your serenity.

Much love and support
M

I am sure, Jerry, you will allow this segue, brother... its about family...

... it always has to be... aha Melly 4 Marley... Stan Walker was a Mozzie, that is

a Maori Ozzie and a Kozzie, a Kiwi Ozzie... he won NZ has got talent.

They put him in a movie- it did not get the ratings of The Saphires, but here is the trailer...

Hmmm... yes Mel... here are Alanon principals to consider here...smile For me its often 'one day at a time' and one moment at a time... and I depends on how well I know the person...

...and as well here, if we get out of line the words are locked in and we can edit them. For me whanau is about family, and also building up networks and support. For you its exclusively on line and on this forum...

...like you I am a writer of sorts... working on an historical biography at the moment... most of my writer dreams were about a biography which would tell the world about my life... I think our hopes and our dreams are really important, and a strong component of steps 2 and 3.  aww D.
