OK so I am struggling w/ my pain still. I can't seem to get comfortable so I don't have a lot of time to post these days between the pain & being uncomfortable. I hope I am not being redundant. I feel sometimes that when I feel physical pain, I struggle w/ mental issues. So, I am not going to probably get this out right--exactly how I feel. So, be patient w/ me. I did go to the chiropractor on Thurs. & Fri. but the weekend was long. It seems that most of my pain is at night when I am trying to sleep.

I plan on getting a massage on Weds. 2 days away. I am sometimes losing my patience. I guess waiting is what I need to do.

So, I will wait & see what God has planned for me. I am going to get on my swing later & see if that helps me w/ my serenity. It is a beautiful fall day & I am grateful for that at least.

Kathleen

There certainly are a whole host of connections between physical and emotional pain. Add lack of sleep and the physical and emotional have even less of an opportunity for the mind and body to cooperate for healing.

Do your best to break the cycle, process anger and resentments and hand them to you HP. Share a daily gratitude list; sometimes I thank HP for something I want as if I already had it. I have had some success with breathing and visualization techniques to minimize physical pain; I visualize the area of pain as darkness where I then plant some seeds and give it water, food, and light, and, then I visualize beautiful, fragrant flowers crowding out the darkness.

The power of suggestion can work too. I say aloud from a loving place, "sleep well".

I hope this helps. In support.

Hi, Kathleen. Chronic pain must be very, very wearing? I'd grow impatient with it, too. I have a chronic issue that creates lots of problems for me and has since I was about 12 years old. Medical science was of absolutely no help in large part because they don't know what to do with it either. I stopped going to doctors over it and have learned to live with it although there are times I do better with it than at other times.

One day, I was talking with a program member, and it came to me that this chronic discomfort was similar to alcoholism for me. I realized I could apply the 3cs to the bodily discomfort just as I could apply it to alcoholism. For some mysterious reason, it actually helped to do that. It helped me accept it and become more patient with it - just as I've had to do with alcoholism and its effects.

I don't know if what worked for me will be of any help to you, but I thought I'd share my experience just in case. (((K)))

I live with chronic pain from scoliosis.  It can consume me and I can feel like a victim if i want to.  Most days I am able to apply program tools, as grateful mentioned....some days I indulge that part of me that wants a pity party, but not for long.  I accepted long ago that I needed to take charge of my body so I studied yoga, natural therapies and and various teachings of those that came before us.  As a result, I have an abundance of tools I can use when I need them.  I decided I was going to see the gifts in the pain and live this life, pain and all, no matter what.  This pain brought me to knowledge that has kept me away from being disabled, and for that I am grateful.  Take good care.
