I had the opportunity to be a greeter at our Fall Assembly. I was and still am so blessed! I felt so much love from the people in the program. Met new people I can can call friends.
Oh, this post was a breath of fresh air as is your picture... I am feeling a bit heavy today and needed to feel the lightness and joy of that little bird (a hummingbird?). A sweet reminder that life hums along and God gives even the smallest of the creatures among us a place to rest until we are ready to fly again....yum
I haven't been in service for a few months at meetings and your post reminded me that I need to get active again. We have a longtimer's speaker meeting coming up on Saturday that I volunteered to help with so hopefully I can get back to service after that, too! So glad you enjoyed serving, I always get something out of it even if it's just cleaning up the room after a meeting.
Yes, service has an amazing way of propelling your recovery forward. I love it too. I also have found after years of service in Al-Anon that I am much better able to serve others outside of the groups. I have joined a community church, bible study, and local community service group in the last 2 years. These are all things that I have wanted to do for many years, but just didn't have the energy to give to them. Now I do, and I am truly grateful to finally feel a part of my world. Amazing!
