Phone call from son

My son called me this afternoon. He's been profoundly depressed and had checked himself into a mental health facility last week. He spent a few days there. Told me he will be calling his doctor tomorrow morning to try to get an appointment as soon as possible as he realizes that he needs to see a therapist one-on-one. The facility had faxed her over the weekend so she will be expecting his call. He knows his mental health is of primary importance.

He apologized to me for not being in touch. He's been holding a lot of things inside and knows he desperately needs help. I pray that he follows through, which I believe he will this time. It's really become a crisis situation.

Dear rose I am glad you heard from your son. I dealt with a similar situation earlier this year when my husband checked himself into a mental health hospital. It was a first step for him. He is still working on his recovery, and so I am I. Looking back now, I can see that my alanon meetings, reading my literature, talking to my sponsor and program friends were what has gotten me through. I am praying for both you and your son. Keep taking care of YOU. Hugs

Thank you for your ESH. I will turn my son over to God and stay out of the way. Okay, I will REALLY try to stay out of the way. I know my defects. I'll keep with the program.

sounds like a good plan, u can't help him, u can't save him,  its tough, i know, but the only one you can work on and help is YOU....i would get into meetings,  work the steps w/another recovery person, hopefully a sponsor,  practice the slogans and keep the focus on you....there is nothing u can do.....he will either reach out or not...its totally out of your hands

So many prayers to you and your son. He did good to do and continue to do what is best for him. As a mother with a recovery addict son. I live with fear and he tells me today the opposite of fear is faith. I have not worked my recovery full force and I wish I had because I did not expect him to come home as soon as he did.. Ugg!!! Many prayers to you. Please continue to work your program as I wish I had and I know I still can. God bless

Your son is making healthier decisions, that's a positive..he is feeling the pain of his disease, the enabling cushion is not there to fall back on, he has to try something else; he is safe where he is

The more I upped my meetings I found my fear gradually became replaced by faith, I had to be diligent, just like an A in recovery has to focus on himself  so it is with us.

Keep up the good work Rose, the results are already revealing themselves

In support

Ness x
