Giving my adult self a reward for overcoming

I really like the fact that you treated yourself and are sharing the treat with others, too!!!!!!! Recipe form.

Ways to grow through difficult times per Neshema:

1. Put all your honest feelings and thoughts down. 2. Share them where you trust folks and ask for feedback. 3. Listen to the E/S/H

4. Make the necessary changes that you determine are right for you. 5. Go get creative.  6.  Benefit yourself.  7.  Share it with others.

Got it! Thanks, sis.

We praise and reward our loved ones when they do good or have a breakthrough,  so why not do that for me????

I had an U G L Y coda moment where I wrote this letter  (deleted and NOT sent---thanks to the ESH'rs who brought me up short---thank you all)

And I did not send the letter.........i typed it......held it.......thought on it.....posted here for clarification and other ideas......thought some more about it........saw my wrong.....saw that I had "unclean"  motives and I erased the letter....AND expressed my willingness to HP to #1--keep working my program.....#2, give over the still residue of ill will I still have towards my painful past and those folks whom I have now separated from.......I will give it over  give it over until the cows come home, but I shall eventually come to terms w/it and be able to REALLY let it go...

so....I decided to give me a "reward"  for doing what was the recovery thing to do.......I am making me my FAVORITE dish and  here is the recipe........

1 cup flour
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup of butter
2-3 big apples
ground cinnamon

Peel your apples, and cut them into the bite size pieces. Layer them in a buttered casserole dish.

Sprinkle cinnamon over them. As soon as you do this, the most delicious apple-cinnamon aroma will waft into your nostrils and you'll probably do a little dance. I do.

Combine flour, brown sugar and butter into a pretty bowl of your choosing.

Cut in butter with pastry tool (or Mr. Egg Mashy-Masher) until well mixed. There will be little crumbies when you're done. (I threw some more cinnamon in here too....cuz I'm a cinnamon fanatic.)

Pour dry mixture yumminess over the apples.

Put in the oven at 375 degrees for 30-40 minutes or until nice and golden brown.

Let cool for as long as you can stand it (but not too long. It's gotta be warm still!)
Spoon a scoop of vanilla ice cream on to

My treat for me b/c I am starting to kinda "like" me and all this time I had to "borrow" loving me from so many of you...now I still love to be loved....however, I am starting to love me too......I am gonna stuff myself on this treat.....it is "TO DIE FOR"   Good.....

((Neshema))

Great idea!!!  Loving yourself enough to celebrate your heroic action is a sure sign of recovery.  Preparing a delicious special treat, because you worked your program hard and surrendered, once again to HP and became willing to let Go  on a deeper level is a great gift to give yourself.

Thanks for the recipe.  Iit sounds  really tasty  Enjoysmile

How cool is this. I'm so proud of you and learned something besides. What a way to let go and make you feel good.

I will try the recipe and let you know how it was..

Thank you for the ESH

OK...here is a good laugh for all of you...........

I am all psyched about my "treat" that I am gonna make.....

I get out dish.........butter it nice......really smear the real...organic butter  on....

I go to fridge.......I see apples.....I am excited that I have apples...........I reach in and begin to grab my little red friends..........not ONE of them was good.......they ALL went bad......dark, mushy spots on them......not a ONE was acceptable for my special treat......

So.....made deal with my adult self and inner child that after this busy week is over...Got stuff or work to do on every day till Saturday........I will treat me where I can have my evening "date" with my treat and my favorite movies on tv and ENJOY............

so on Saturday, I will do it.....with GOOD apples.....

I had to laugh.....every doggone apple I pulled from the fridge  was BAD....I tossed them outside for the wild critters............so my treat will have to wait..........Oh I could do it after work,  but I go to bed so early on a work night,....I want to make this an "evening" special where I can munch, watching my favorite tv shows

So Cathy, I hope you like my treat.....Let me know how YOURS comes out......Its been a while since I made this................Even in cooking , I use the slogan------I KEEP IT SIMPLE......

Oh yea,  I am sure I had "someone" tell me about that recipe....I should take notes, b/c  I do a peach cobbler w/butter cookies,  layered peach, then crumbled cookie, then peach, then crumbled cookie and pour melted butter over the layers as you "build"  .........I "do my own thing" on any recipe I get verbal,  written somewhere, whatever.... , I am sure that has been passed around by generations......so a lady you know knows about it??  I think I was in MA  waaaaay years ago when I got "wind" of it............4got it for years b/c I was mostly alone (even married, I ate mostly alone)  so who bothers for just me????  but now that is changing.....I am cooking stuff for me....dont' aske me where I got the recipe, I could't tell ya I was either in MA or  CAL thats all I can remember...........
