Just sharing a piece of the MIP story and me speaking at a AA convention.

It was through my journey in recovery, starting in the rooms of Alcoholics Anonymous, that I gratefully found my way through the doors of Al-Anon some years later.  This video shares the beginning of my becoming a "Miracle In Progress" and what it took for me to finally surrender to the recovery process and take a seat in AA and begin the process of growing up, learning and healing.

Hope you enjoy it.

Hi, John: About 1/2 an hour ago, your words about losing all your enablers helped me say no to myself in relationship to my son. Prayed for guidance, read what I needed to read. Still wasn't clear. About the time I was going to do in relationship what I would normally do in in varying degrees for or with someone in recovery or not struggling with this disease, your words came at me in memory like a beacon in the darkness of not knowing the next right action for me to take.  They were the final piece of clarity I needed.
Thanks.

Didn't really know if it was appropriate to put a AA speaker meeting video on this board or if it would offend anyone.  I surely hope not.  Just wanted to share that there is true hope for even what might seem like the hopeless alcoholic in your life.  It was only after I lost all my enablers that I finally hit my bottom with enough force to get back in the rooms of AA with enough force to finally stick.  Hope you enjoy it, if not, hope you don't hold it against me.  :)

John

I was glad to hear it.  And as to whether or not it was appropriate for the board - our founder has listed the purposes for this board.  I think your video fits nicely into the purposes listed.biggrin  Nice that you kept the focus on you and not on the enablers.

Good program modeling.  (((J)))biggrin  All teasing aside - its a wonder you are alive and I am glad that you are.  ((((((J))))))

It gives me hope and the courage to continue to move forward that someday my son will be standing in front of people telling them his story. The enablers are all gone I think so now so what he will do is anybody's guess.

It was appropriate in my books. Al-anoners need to hear the other side.

(((( hugs ))))
