A good MIP friend gave me a screw. It is in a case with the saying "use as needed to let you know you are never truly alone you have alanon and the MIP family."
My life at this moment is a perfect storm of stress and I have been using the screw as needed like ALOT.
I am on a business trip to Texas and Minnesota this week, finishing planning my sister in laws baby shower for this Sunday and preparing to have houseguests this weekend .....UGH too much at once.
So I was in the airport this afternoon in the security line. I have 3 laptops that I am carrying on (nothing left to chance - lost luggage or fedex screwups)
I am sheparding my laptops and the security lady touches one (after it went through the screen)
I just about flip out, calm down, smile and she chastises me for slowing the line down :(
Then security becomes very interested in my purse.
I am stressed to the max and wondering what could be in the purse to interest them so?
The purse goes back through the x-ray process (holding things up again) and still security is miffed.
So they say they will have to look in the purse.
Knowing nothing bad is within the purse I have no worries.
So the guy pokes around in my small and very cluttered purse.
And then I burst out, the screw!
I take out the screw in its case, explain about the online group and the origin of the screw, moan about the fact that now I will lose my screw.
The security guard is hiding his mirth, but I see the hints of a smile :)
He makes me promise that while I am on the airplane I keep the screw in the case and not take it out and wave it around.
So I promise and leave security with my screw :)
On the plane I took the screw out once though..... I did not wave it around :)

If you want things you never had you need to do things you have never done
That is just too funny! Reminds me of a few objects I carry around in my purse...about 2 years ago at a Weight Watchers Meeting the leader handed out little pink plastic swords. Their purpose, so we could stab anyone who tried to make us eat something we didn't want to eat! I also have a rock in my purse from the same leader...to remind us that a huge mountain is just a bunch of tiny little rocks that we must climb over one at a time. Makes the mountain seem much smaller! Thanks for sharing.
I needed that to start my day off right! I promise I won't tell security about that. I have worry people that a friend of mine gave me from Mexico. I was having a particularly bad night last week, so I put one under my people. When I got up the next morning it was gone, the cat had it in her mouth! I guess she needed it more than I did.
Have a safe trip, and enjoy your sister's baby shower. Remember it's okay to ask for help if you need it. So don't be afraid to have the houseguests chip in cooking breakfast or helping with dinner. It doesn't make you a bad hostess, it makes you a human one! Enjoy!
Live strong, Karilynn
P.S. Did I tell you Piper and I are coming for the weekend too?

I remember when I first heard the "screw" story - big Davie's fault wasn't it? hehe. I kinda think we should have the "screw" as a room mascot - just for us!! But it looks like it got you in trouble this time!!! Silly screw!! Anyway, you really made me chuckle - and with all those laptops too!! Were you a pack horse in a previous life? lol. So good to see humour in trying times.
