Breathing seems to be the message of the day for me....so I will remember to take in those deep sweet breaths as I bustle about today AND take some times to sit, listen and experience what is right before me, accepting what is....hi ho hi ho it is off to clean the bathroom I go
And I love all of your shares.....

I am finishing an online course titled "Breathing Under Water: Spirituality and the Twelve Steps" and wanted to share this quote:
"With these twelve important breathing lessons, you now know for yourself that you can breathe, and even under water. Because the breath of God( or your HP) is everywhere."
Using the 12 Steps in my daily life, I have found that acceptance is the key. That life on life's term is manageable as long as I remember to breath, trust HP and work all the Steps
Loved this quote with you, Paula, and love the reference to HP/the breath of God being everywhere. That's where I think the 12 steps are intended to take us, too. Into the heart of God and out into the world with the Presence of Unconditional Love.
It reminds me of a young boy who fell in the ice in the river behind our house when I was 8 years old. He survived because there was a small air pocket under the ice, and he got his nose there until help arrived.
Ever since then, I have calmed myself when I was on the verge of panic by telling myself I just need an air pocket, just enough to survive until help arrives or I can change my situation. I knew it was a higher power thing, that little boy's air pocket. The 12 steps are that for me.
There she goes, walking on air she goes - Mrs. America - as servant with toilet brush in hand. Loved the picture you present of a woman who loves and experiences it, too.
Beautiful! Thank you for sharing, because I feel like I can finally breath fresh air after doing my first 12 steps and working my recovery program! Love the reminder!

" Pain is inevitable, suffering is optional."
"Serenity is when your body and mind are in the same place."
I think the reason taking a moment to breathe works is because it kicks your brain back into gear. Crisis, oh no! Brain freeze! what do we do? somebody do something, eek ack erk - breathe, oh yeah, brain needs oxygen to work.

I love this....
((((Paula)))) yea, I am "stepping it" big time...my crash was large in part to ignoring red flags within me, distracting myself from the discomfort, only to have it come back and bite me in the butt....So now, no more running...now the steps....been working #4 this past few days...Didn't like what I learned but at least its "doable" (changing and improving)

Feel more like one of the 7 dwarfs...a persistent "taking one day at a timer" and picking away at my barnacles
for me, it has to be one barnacle at a time...too many to go full bore....I would need a whole body dermabrasion........good metaphor....exactly one of the thngs I learned about me....."easy does it" and "one barnacle at a time".....

I ordered the book last night for my Kindle. I started it about an hour ago. I was hoping it was written by an alanon. So far it appears to be written from the AA perspective.
But I do know ...the steps are still the steps. I will enjoy it regardless.
